Simply because the twentieth century is the latest complete century.
The 18th century had an unprecedented technology explosion, the greatest up to that time.
So did the nineteenth century.
So did the twentieth.
So will the twenty-first, and twenty-second, and twenty-third.No doubt there will be equivalent graphs at the end of each successive century, and lastdaysophiles trying to convince everyone that this proves the system is ending.

the other day there were several low flying planes around the nuclear station in our area.
they were unknown, and there was not to be any schedualed flights at the time in the area.

What defines a terrorist act as opposed to an act of patriotism?
Actually the question should be "who defines.....". History is written by the victors. In this case, a dominant and independent America. Therefore the Tea Party was an act of patriotism, a blow for freedom. If the revolution had failed and America was still under British rulership, no doubt the Tea Partiers would be recorded as traitorous villains.
Imo, the Boston Tea Party was not a terrorist act, since no-one died or was injured. A lot of good tea was wasted, which is always a shame. It was merely an act of rebellion.
Having said that, my identity is now a little confused, since apparently English people are not the bloodthirsty bastards that Hollywood and Mel Gibson say we are. Damn. Tea anyone?

You are absolutely correct about the SWAG, which is why I made a point of saying that my figure of 10% was off the top of my head. Based on my experience working with various businessews (I run an accounting firm), any business not consistently making an np% of >10% will not be around for much longer. However, this is just my experience and viewpoint.
Interestingly though, the WT may be about to fall foul of a rule of thumb that is widely accepted: the 80/20 rule. That is, that 80% of your revenue comes from 20% of your customers or clients. 18% of jw's are in North America, and based on this piece of business wisdom, will generate approx. 80% of the wt's revenue. If the decline in North America and Western Europe persists, the reaction of the wt will be interesting to see, as each new third world convert will become an additional net drain on monetary resources. I expect the screw to be put on NA jw's pretty severely over the next couple of years, with less emphasis on gaining third world recruits. Again, that's entirely SWAG on my part!

The Penn. company has revenue of $79 million and net assets of approx $600 million. The New York company is obviously the biggie, which would explain why it's been so difficult to get hold of financials for it, without actually trying to phone them and ask for a copy. Assuming (right off the top of my head) a 10% net profit %tage, the NY company would accumulate approx. $100 million dollars to it's net assets every year. Confirmation that we are talking about a multi-billion dollar enterprise.

i guess that rules this out as having anything to do with armageddon or they wouldn't be missing.
or else their door to door activity didn't measure up.. she also told me that the nyc fire department was making use of an empty watchtower building during the cleanup.

I agree that 100 is a suspiciously round number. Presumably though, some jw's did work at the wtc, so I should think it likely there were some jw casualties. The whole thing about being concerned about victims based on their religion or nationality is quite irritating though. This was an attack on us all.

I spoke to my family in the UK yesterday and they also mentioned the figure of 100 jw's missing.
I have no idea if this is rumour or if there is any basis for this figure. I didn't question them further since I was a tad pissed that out of 5000 missing people it was quite obvious only 100 had any worth as far as they are concerned.
