  why is it a social custom to say "congratulations" to a guy when his wife/gf has had/is having a baby?.

  what has he done to deserve the sentiments?

  Should Bush Make His STATE Visit To The UK Next Week?

  note that i'm talking about a state visit, not your run-of-the-mill political scenario.. state visits from visiting presidents, kings and queens involve open-top parades through pall mall next to queen lizzie in an open landau, several nights in the best suite at buckingham palace, soldiers and guardsmen in full regalia and banquets galore until the excellent food pops out your ears.

  that's a state visit.

  i don't think that we've had a full state visit from a us president since jfk.. now, our good friend george dubya is expected for a state visit next week.

  as you may remember the watchtower has petitioned the circuit court of manchester tennessee to dismiss the case against them filed by barbara and joe anderson.

  hi to all who defended me on that other board.. i came home today to nine pm's, all defending me from the personal attacks on me, on another board.

  i am still in shock, but i do appreciate the words of those who defended me.. one gal called me and told me she had five phone calls from others expressing shock over the way i was being maligned on the other board.. i am fine, and dealing with it.

  i guess we all need to expect to be criticized.

  I also don't think that we should allow ourselves to be influenced by our being quoted for malicious purposes anywhere else. Even if you do read stuff, just don't let it get to you. If you stand back and view it objectively, the whole thing becomes laughable, and the lies blatantly obvious.

  For instance (note to Moderators: if you don't want what follows to remain, feel free to edit), my post above was quoted, and the one line reply was:

  Cowardly like your joking about Amanda being stalked on Animal's board.

  Now, as of this moment I've made 60 posts on that particular board. Most of them are stupid oneliners, therefore it only took me about 5 minutes to reread them all. Guess what? "Amanda" or "Moe" are not mentioned in a single one of those 60 posts, let alone being mentioned in a joking manner!

  When you see stuff like this, it helps to put the whole thing into perspective.

  The cowardly and unprovoked attack on you is inexcusable, but I trust that you realise that the things said about you are complete nonsense and blatant fabrications of disturbed individuals designed simply to try and hurt you. I hope that it does not adversely affect your posting habits here, because you have always shown great dignity, kindness and balance, and improved the board by your presence. Please don't let a taste of sour milk put you off cream cakes.

  I just thought of something amusing. Having been to Canada you know that the Royals are, if anything, more popular here than back home in the UK. Sometimes even I'm left shaking my head at it. And of course, the Royals love Canada. Jolly good skiing, you know, and the Subjects are suitably overawed with a Royal visit, hemhem.

  I'd bet a large sum of money that if the UK ever does terminate the institution of Monarchy, they'll end up over here. I can just imagine you emigrating and getting away from the Windsors, and then they go and bloody well follow you! They'll probably get a nice bungalow in Alberta to be close to the Rockies, you know. Just think, Simon and Her Maj, neighbours! Muah!
