OK this will be my first year participating in Halloween. I grew up a JW, so have never enjoyed it as a kid or as an adult.
So, I need some guidance!
What do I do when the little bastards come to the door?
Do I need to act scared? Do I need to scare them with a spooky voice?
How much candy will the little sods extort?
Should I spike the candy with colon cleanser?
Help me!

this is just a few thoughts that i have regarding the subject of anonimity.
yes, i am making this post after being in the chat room with several others including kent and prisca.
it seemed to me that kent posted prisca's pic mainly out of sheer mischievousness and was quite taken aback at her very real distress at having her identity exposed.
Englishman:
What you have said is quite true, and I'm on the cusp of this situation myself.
Anonyminity has it's uses for a time. When you are making the first breaks from the WT, gathering information and starting to interact with "apostates", remaining anonymous provides safety. It allows you to arm yourself, as it were, build up your defenses for the inevitable onslaught of family-fronted cult pressure.
But I've found that once this part of the withdrawal process is complete, remaining anonymous becomes a negative thing, preventing further progress in withdrawal from the cult.
I've decided, recent shenanigans with pictures being posted notwithstanding, that as soon as I've figured out how to use my damn digital camera and software, that I'll be posting my real picture and name in my profile. I'll still go by the posting name Expatbrit though.
This may well result in unpleasantness with family. But that is something I've come to realise is inescapable in the process.
I do however apologise to those who will be disappointed and upset in finding out that I am not, after all, an Orangutan.

i have not followed very many threads of late, so if someone has already made the same observations i'm about to make, i apologize for my redundancy.. .
i admit it: i'm part of a highly secretive, highly elite group.

Um....if we're all a family, that means all the women I've been flirting with in chat are my sisters!

just a few loose ends and random thoughts for a select group of readers who have not been completely defrauded of your faith.. on the topic of stumbling: stumbling typically involves the mistakes of others whether real or perceived.
the reason jehovah does not consider any stumbling block as a valid reason for abandoning ones faith is because a persons faith should be in jehovah and christ in the first place.
and since god most assuredly did not let his worshipper down, what a fellow believer does or does not do should have no bearing upon our personal relationship with our heavenly father.
Excellent stuff, You Know. A shame Charles Taze Russell didn't apply it to his previous religions.

something came across my desk, today indicating ibsa's association with the wcc.. i can't reveal what at this moment, as this would reveal my id.. however i know that there are posters out there who will verify my credentials.. what is needed is someone willing to carry out some digging in the info about the wcc.. let's just say that the scarlot beast isn't the only one to be ridden by the society.. once this is out in the open, more can be revealed,.
any info much appreciated.
regards to all, especially max and oz.
Here is some further info on IBSA I posted a while back: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=5725&site=3#67078
Ignore the statement about IBSA closing down, it is an error on my part.
JEMIMAH: Please feel free to e-mail me if there is anything I can do to help in digging and uncovering information.

i remember that when i was a witness, seeing certain phrases would trigger the response: "aha, this must be from an apostate!".
those words and phrases included:.
"the watchtower society"--because the brothers would usually just call it "the society" and because this was, of course, merely a legal instrument the brothers used to advance the preaching work.. "the governing body"--because despite the power they may wield, the governing body does stay in the background personality-wise most of the time and has done so pretty much since the days of knorr; therefore, i regarded any attempts to point to them as personally important as suspicious (and can recall being charmed in an odd way a few years ago when a brother giving a public talk was unable to recall the name of the society's current president).. "the rank and file"--obviously this was insulting because jehovah's witnesses have no clergy-laity division!
These days, virtually any statement ending with a "?".
