"sure, honey, that dress looks fine.
why he tells it: hassle avoidance.
men employ these "forgivable fibs" not just to avoid hurting you ("of course you don't look fat in that outfit") but to make their lives easier ("i think that wallpaper looks great") and to steer clear of trouble ("i guess cindy crawford's 'sexy' in a conventional kind of way, but she's not my cup of tea").. it's not that your man doesn't care what you wear or what the living room looks like -- he does.

i think for me, it is if someone doesn't believe that what i say is sincere or honest.
i find that insulting.
what about you??
A certain poster told me recently that my posts were received with, "At best, distant politeness."
If you please Englishman, I find that to be rather an intriguing comment, Sir.

the other day i was watching "charlie's angel's" (the weekly series from the '70's) on tvland.
it dawned on me how much i used to wish they had aired that show any night but thursdays.
maybe twice a year, if i was too sick to go to the meeting i would get my hour to watch my favorite star...farrah!
I missed having parents who weren't at war over religion.

... was that no one was ever accused of being unpatriotic if they hammered him.
now, of course, w might be a paragon of virtue in comparison, at least with regard to oral sex in the oval office, but many people who have criticised aspects of his presidency have had all sorts of accusations rained down upon their heads.
i found this article an interesting discussion.
Yeru, most of us that opposed the war hated the violence Saddam perpetrated against his own people as well.
Did you really? Did you protest this violence? Or did your protests begin only when it became likely the US government was about to go to war against the regime of Saddam Hussein? Perhaps you didn't hate Saddam's violence against his own people quite enough to support the only feasible way of ending it.
We just didn't buy into Bush's lies and propoganda and wanted a less violent solution.
A less violent solution such as.....? The diplomacy that failed miserably and allowed hundreds of thousands to die for twelve years? Or perhaps you have another solution in mind that doesn't involve violence. Please tell us what it is, so that in future this method can be used with other psychopathic dictators.
Or at the very least some believable evidence that military action was the preferable route.
There was abundant evidence of the suffering and death caused by the regime of Saddam Hussein. What is so unbelievable about all of that evidence? What better reason do you need than the mass brutalisation of an entire population?

f is for farkel right?.
did he really leave or something?
i think we should have a farkel appreciation thread dont you?
Didn't Farkel pull a Beethoven because he felt his music was underappreciated here?
In which case, may he find rich symphonic pastures in other fields.
