I too heard of that story at either a CA or DC only in the last few years.
If the father was that much involved with the Yakuza, what happened to him?

i use to, well i still do think its no better than the confession idea to a priest.. 1. how many elders step down and are removed and what then?.
2. how many people have access to the file cabinet?.
3. my biggest thought is how many that are no longer elders repeat the dirty little secrets?.
What!
Do they have a filing cabinet?
The only thing I could remember that in one congregation that I grew up in they had a actual full size safe, like in the cartoons. The only way you could open it was knowing the dial combination and also a key! Mind you, a couple of sticks of dynamite wouldn't even scratch the thing either. We had to move it once and we needed a pallet jack to lift it. It bent the fridge trolley!
Dont know about my current cong though. I haven't seen any filing cabinet or anything that could hold filing of any sort.
when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.
I never got counselled for anything (as I was in a favored crowd with the elders - though I didn't do much wrong though) but I had friends that did.
One brother was counselled for giving out his home number to a sister at a DC (pre-mobile era). He was grounded by his father who was also an elder for 6 weeks!
A brother got counselled for breaking into a brothers car as the brother had locked his keys in the car. The brother was in within 10 secs and you would have not even known it on the street. It was not like he was there for about 3 mins and visible for all to see. Mind you, a few months later went the KH had new locks installed, the elders accidently locked the new set of keys in the hall. Guess who they called? Elders do suffer from Selective Alzhiemers as this brother told them.
Having a car that wasn't cleaned when going out witnessing. The brother lived on a farm at the time and had a dirt road for a driveway.
A sister was not "hospitable" when the CO and a Elder dropped in for a cup of coffee while out witnessing. She was on her way to work and told them she was leaving there and then!
A brother went to a football game on the day of the Special Assemby and went to a neighhbouring circuits the following day. The following year, the same elder was going on a boat trip and was going to a neighbouring CA. The brother reminded of him what he had said to him the previous year. Another case of Selective Alzheimers.
I wish I could remember more.
can someone tell me what happened, what was said.
what topics were discussed?
thanks in advanced.
bit of a weird title i know, but it's the best i could come up with.. acts of randomness - a speaker refusing to give a talk, a party-pooper elder going to a party, a long time servant of jah criticising the cong during wt comments.. people you thought you knew doing some completely weird or out of character.. an act of randomness could appear at the end of a talk on "widening out" when a certain someone who doesn't like you decides to say hello..
My favorite one is always when a brother with a radio mic goes to the toilet and forgets to switch it off.
hey guy's, i was wondering if you could help me out for a sec, i have a guy i work with who wants some material to use against one of his jw nabours, i meantioned a couple things to him like 607 b.c, but i want something that will not look like it obviously came from a former insider and scare his nabour off.
does anyone have any good info or links they could share?.
sol.
My advice - do not argue with a JW! It brings you to their level!
i certainly have heard a lot of idiotic stuff during my tenure as a witness - but this one is priceless:.
a neophyte was complaining about the heat, humidity, physical effort, etc., involved in attending the district convention at veteran's stadium in philadelphia - and she was right.
it was miserable.
Welcome Brothers and Sisters!
it seems that the watchtower society was very ill prepared for the advent of the internet.
perhaps, some of the governing body thought the end would come before it became a big problem.
now it is a big problem and is only going to get worse.
New Light
The 'Spirit of the World' is the Internet!
It is no longer the television or radio!
i'm talking about congos with at least 40-50 publishers in the file.
we had a nearby congo that supposedly had 60-65 publishers and their attendance on one tms/sm night hit an all-time low of 14. they had a ton of elderly/infirm.
they finally merged and now everybody's happy about the "increase".
A friends congregation had recorded 8 attending the TMS and SM. Of those 8, two were disfellowshipped. This was not even due to bad weather or hoilidays.
The congregation at the time had 40 publishers and the monthly average attendance were on average consecutively about 14 for about 4-5 months.
this goes along with my dumb things to get dfed for....thread.. i was pretty lucky and i was a good boy for most of my 52 years in the "borg.
" just a few brushes with the boys in the back room.. don't you just love their line....."so tell me brother...is their anything else you should to tell us about?
we have been talking to your friends".
new light - One time I had the KH to myself and played some AC/DC through the audio system. Someone must have walked in, heard it, and ran to the elders because the next day the P.O. had a few words with me at the meeting. We use to play all sorts of music when we were doing our reno to our hall when I was a teenager. We used to play the Blues, heavy rock etc, and alot of it was over the edge. But we were never taken in the back room. We didn't think Kingdom Melodies was the type of music that we could work too, otherwise it would have taken a few more years longer to do it.
