I became aware yesterday that my son had an account on Myspace.com (without our permission)so I got his user name and password and logged on. The site was filled with pictures, videos, surveys and a whole lot more. As I clicked on the related sites of my son's friends, I saw that pornographic sites have the abilility to enter kids' sites under the guise of being a friend. One site in particular was incredibly frightening and dangerous. It invited the kid to click onto this particular site which was hooked up to a webcam and offered pictures and videos of "Live Teens". This site was not only pornographic but was also predatory in the way that it tried to lure kids to the site and to participate. I've read articles on the rape crimes and the victims and suspects meet up through Myspcace.com. One of those articles are from and many others. If your child has an account on MySpace, get on there and check it out. Even if your child's site is fairly benign, check out what it is linked to. This isn't just "rebellious" kids who are doing this - it is a lot of our kids (kids who homeschool, kids from church, kids from youth groups, kids from Bible study). And the most important is talk to your teens, explain to them the extent that what might could happen to them and guide them not to make such wrong decisions.
