A Dangerous Legal Precedent
by metatron ina jury in milwaukee awarded 17 million bucks to an 82 year old barber who got hit by a car.
driven by a church volunteer.
the archdiocese was held liable for the volunteers' actions.. (see wall street journal editorial page, march 17, 2005).. now, i'd like to see the watchtower crash and burn as much as anyone .... but i sincerely.

applied to businesses...this is why business usually carry liability insurance that covers there employees while they are driving on company business. I don't see anything wrong with this precendent IF the person that caused the harm did so whilst do any activity that has to do specifically with the business or organization.
This is why employers are supposed to screen their employees, and non profits their volunteers. So they shouldn't allow a brother who is a known reckless driver to be behind the wheel in field service, nor a pizza delivery guy with a bad driving record delivering for Dominos.
If I have a client that tells me they want the temp employee working for me to take on driving duties, I tell them no way, jose. That is a risk I refuse to take on, and our contracts state that.

HAHAHAAH!!! that is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.
Hell, they just ought take the chimp out of the viewing area for a few weeks, and let him go through the nerve wracking activity of smoking.
I wonder if I look like that when I smoke?

Just tell the elder that assigns the talk you are afraid to give the talk, because all the subjects you are assigned give you a woody on stage.
I am sure you will not be asked to give another talk for a while at least.

Car Wash Guilt Complex!!!
by prophecor indon't you feel terrible when you take your car to the car wash?
the folks who wash your car, immigrants, illegal aliens, and they work so hard and are always there, the same people dilligently washing your filthy car.
are they not some of hardest working people in america?

I don't go to the car washes that are by hand...those are way to expensive for me, and few and far between here in my part of Texas. Most of the car washes are those crappy "laser" ones that do a crappy job. I leapt for joy when they built a good ol' car wash that pulls the vehicle through, thrashing your car with those blue raggy things...the only thing the guys do are take my antennae off for me, and if they have time put it back on for me. Well worth the five bucks.
I am not sure why it bothers you any more than going out to eat. The waitors/waitresses are in a "submissive" position are they not? Doesn't bother me at all. I have never had my shoes shined, though...being a chick and never having anything for them to shine hahah. But if I did, and my shoes were dusty in an airport and I didn't want to do it myself, hell ya, I would hop up and ask for a shine...as long as I wasn't wearing a skirt...then I would feel sorry for them

You know, one of the candidates left on the Apprentice has a shoe shining business. He is also is an EMT.
Some of the much older ones, yeah I guess I do feel sorry for them, but I also respect them because they are willing to work to pay their way, even if it is manual labor. The younger ones though, I think working in a car wash or as a shoe shine worker is their choice in most cases. At least for those that cannot find better jobs they are actually working for their money.
I don't think we should pity these workers, but respect them. I don't feel guilty about getting my car washed....my car could really use a wash a few times a week what with all the pollen floating in the air...I would rather pay to get it washed than do it myself. I don't think I am being lazy, I am just trading $5 bucks to save myself an hour of work a week...an hour I can spend with the kids, reading a book or reading this board. If I couldn't afford it, I would do it myself.

They used to organize ski trips...but you weren't invited if you didn't have money, or if you were not one of the "in" teens. aka leading-a-double-life. Oh well...I guess I missed a good show hahah.
