Is this true?!!! No way!!!
by Doubtfully Yours ina couple of childhood friends of mine, henry caban and alberto caban, both bethelites at one time, were said to be going to law school compliments of the wtbts.
is it true that they put some 'cream of the crop' bethelites through college depending on what field the society needs?
i can't believe it?!!!

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL??
Really, it is appropriate for them to pay for them to go to college so they can have their own homegrown lawyers. If they are good JWs and put their time in at Bethel for the crappy pay, I say good for them! At least they will have something good to fall back on if they leave, whether as a JW or not.
I am actually amused that anyone would be surprised by this. The official view of education has changed so much over the past 5 to 10 years at the WTS. I, for one, am all for the WTS providing useful training to all their bethelites so that when they leave, either as a JW or not, that they can be productive members of society, and not have to rely on their table setting and mopping skills.

Cure depression with a good diet
by RubyTuesday indepression relief diet.
sue gilbert, m.s.. .
if it sometimes seems that food is the only thing that will make you feel better, it's not just in your head.

Chocolate always cures my depression for about 20 minutes hahaha....
a good diet and excercise certainly can help, but for serious depression that is not often enough, and in fact, some with serious depression are not even going to recognize or care that they need to eat better or excercise.

I was standing outside in the KH parking lot, stand near the truck of my car, having a long, difficult conversation with one of my closest friends...I think it was right around the Memorial..it may have been right after THE Memorial...it was 1998. I was telling my friend, that I didn't know if I could step back in the KH ever again, that I just didn't agree...it had come over me so suddenly after the meeting...things that had been brewing subconsciously for years....the way women were second class citizens, how we did no work to benefit those that were not witnesses, the shunning...
After that I got online, and started asking questions of people in various chat rooms about spirituality in general....but only for a few months, just cursory stuff. Then, after I got together with my now husband (whom I met online...never would have met him if I had not dared to go online hahah), I was reading a book that he had, called Job A Comedy of Justice by Robert Heinlein,...it made me soooo angry...it was a good book, and it made me so pissed off at the same time. It stirred in me thinking I had never really thought about before.
I didn't think about it too much for about a year or two.after that....then when I was very pregnant, I saw a tv report on two girls that had been molested by a JW and was SHOCKED...not because that it happened...that happens in every religion, but it was the first time that I had heard about the society getting sued over it...so I went online to look more up...and ended up on this site.
This is where I found out about CoC. I good read.
I have not gone to a meeting since that night. I have been in the parking lot of a KH or two over the years,.to drop my mom off or pick her up...I even went into the entrance of my old hall to get her once...shudder!
All I can say, that experience, although I feel I have a better life now, it was like a divorce. But I don't regret being a witness...it was something I was raised in, rebelled in, then came back and 'made it my own" for several years. I was a true believer when baptised, and ready to go when I did. No one lead me to get baptised, and no one asked me to leave...it was on my own terms. It is part of who I am.

Yes...I have no candle pic...but I light one for the following:
...my best JW's friend baby who passed away last week
...my father who passed away 12 years ago
...my ex boyfriend and his wife and unborn child who all died in a car accident in 1996
but, instead of just saddness..remember at least one moment of joy for each person. It is not pity that honors thier memory, but remembering the person they were

I just read Simon's question....finding a winning lottery ticket....even I have to say that is a TOUGH one.
ouch, ouch, ouch....you know I think if I found one, and it won, I would wait a few days and see if it turned up in the press...if they did find someone that could prove it was theirs, I would give it to them, and hopefully they would give me a reward. But if a reasonable amount of time goes by, and no one says they lost it, then sure, I probably would claim it.
