  Funny little story to share with my fellow pet lovers…

  dumb-dumb the cat has become the neighborhood sweetheart.

  it is common to see little neighborhood children and adults alike stoop to pet him in passing.

  he often makes the rounds in the evenings, going from door to door in the complex and saying hello through any open doors.

  Sounds like you have a cat with a great personality. I have found cats a lot like humans....you get all kinds, some are a blast and others are just snooty hahhh.\

  Since we got our ferret about 12 days ago, my husband has gotten some extra exercise each night playing with the guy. He is so much fun. Even when he is in his cage, the kids will talk to him and play with him. Its almost like have a cross between a good humored cat and spastic dog.

  Dumb Dumb sounds very special...I hope that cat is around for a long time.

  Is vivisection ethical?

  do you believe that vivisection (animal experimentation) that usually involves causing disease or injury to animals for the sake of scientific research is an unethical practice that should be banned?

  Well, I am a life time member of PETA..that is People for Eating of Tasty Animals...but animal testing does bother me in many areas. Cosmetic testing, surely is really unnecessary.

  I tend to think of myself as an omnivore...not just a carnivore. And to say that a person is always more healthy if they never eat meat I think is not correct. I have known vegatarians that were healthy, and a few that were not. They just couldn't seem to get the right nutrients. I am not saying it is impossible...obviously it is possible. However, I do believe there are some people that feel a little better with some meat in their diet.

  I also don't think you can equate eating meat with animal testing. It isn't the same thing at all. There are a lot of tests that are necessary to use animals, but there are humans that subject themselves to experimental new drugs too. You can sometimes go to craigslist.com and see where labs are looking for human test subjects.

  For all those people that are opposed to absolutely NO animal testing in ANY case, please contact your local lab and volunteer for the new research in cancer, aids, diabetes, etc...all the other diseases where animal testing may be necessary. If enough of you step up, I am sure we won't NEED any more animal testing.

  Excuse me, I am off to test a new animal treat on my ferret, Ubu.

  my 14 year old son never lets me and my husband forget that although he has 4 younger sisters, we have failed in our duties to provide a younger brother.

  when he comes back from vacationing up north, he will be pleased to see he now has a younger brother.

  Hey there...welcome to the board!

  I am not gay, nor have a played a gay man on tv, being a girl kind of gets in the way of that hahah.

  There is a nice group on this board that happen to be gay. It doesn't hurt to hook up (I am not referring in a sexual way) with a person that has some idea of what your background is.

  My husband was never a witness, but his ex's mother was,and he got to see some of the wierd aspects of the religion. I think that helped him understand my past a little more.

  BREAKING NEWS: Decision coming down tomorrow in Berry girls' appeal!

  the new hampshire supreme court's official site lists the decision for this case (holly berry & a. v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. & a.

  ) among those "to be released july 15.".

  this decision will be huge for whomever it goes for (the silentlambs or the wts) since it will be from a state supreme court, and thus precedent-setting for the other ongoing cases throughout the country.

  He is our little 3 month old ferret...just got him tonight. He is a cute little guy...tried to crawl down my shirt into my bra while I was driving him home though. I was going to name him Rikki-tikki-tavi...but I had to keep saying "Sit, Ubu, sit!" several times (from the old tv shows, remember?) so the name has stuck.

  Anyone else have a ferret? My sister has two, and my brother in law 5. We spend some fun hours playing with them on vacation...if this one takes to us, we may get another in a few months.

  Any body here drive a skoolie??

  after the long drive from tx to pa, then nh, then back to pa and back to tx in a 8 passenger van w/out a/c...my husband and i have decided it is time to get something that is bit more comfortable for the long trips.

  we had thought about your typical motorhomes (too expesive and not always that safe), camper trailers and conversion vans.

  well, the making over our van into a conversion van wouldn't make any sense, because there still wouldn't be much extra room, even with a roof, and we would lose as seat if we put in more comfortable seats.

  My husband wants a mini cooper..he may get one next year if he behaves. I would feel much safe in a skoolie than in a normal motorhome, because of the steel construction. And you don't have to black out any of the windows if you don't want..you can be very creative.   Nina...hmmm....don't know about that...we could informally call it the apostabus and maybe I could occaisionally use it to pick up visiting apostates at the airport for visiting apostates hahah. But, I would be using it to visit my mom, and I don't think that would go over well hahah.

  Actually, we were going to call it bable fish, or heart of gold, or transgalatic gargleblaster, or the whale and the petunia...something from Hitchhilers. If I can keep the stop sign that comes out, we will re paint it with the Don't Panic guy hahah...

  We lost the bid...ack...someone else bid more than we can afford, so we are searching for another bus.

  Maybe if we ever find one we can have a party to welcome it home, and maybe a party when it is finished (or maybe a party in between and my very good close friends here on JWD can come help paint it hahah...they would be supplied with beer of course, hahah)

  In the meantime, I am trying to learn all the differences with biodiesel (you can buy it or you can make it) or using waste veggi oil (getting it free from restuarants and putting it trhough some process...yadda yadda)

  The thought of being almost green driving a diesel vehicle is very cool. =)
