My in-laws brought their Kirby cleaner over today and shampoo'd our downstairs carpets. They look considerably improved.
What a coinky-dink. I am going to be shampooing my carpets tonight with my Kirby...if I can get motivated enough, heehee.
.
last night my pub quiz team finished second, and we won 5. i doubt it's enough to bring down the wts though.
anyone else with any small news?

is it possible that this "big news" could actually create a division amongst active apostates who are fighting to disrupt the wts?.
it seems that there are two factions regarding the "big news": one is jumping for joy, ready to spread the news far and wide, hoping for lawsuits; the other has poo-pooed the whole thing as overblown nothingness.
for the most part up til now, it's been us(ex-jws) vs them(the wts).
Undercover..I thought this was quite a clever question actually, satire or no.
amazing grace!
how sweet the sound.
that saved a wretch like me!.
I do really love to listen to Ava Maria.....how odd is that?
hey there...i never got a chance to study or read about objectivism in college, or read any of ayn rand's books while in high school or college.. i finally started too, and was curious if there are others out there that have?
i joined a study group that meets once or twice a month to go over, basically an overview of the philosophy.
i guess i really have missed bookstudy hahaha.... anyone else?
Under74...thank you for the suggestion. I will check it out.
Gary: that is another book I have on my hope to read in 2006 list.
did your parents hold you up to higher jw standards than they held themselves or force you to live up to things they never did if they were raised in the truth?.
i know when my mother was a teenager they used to watch bewitched all the time and no one took it seriously.
they never missed an episode.
Hmmm...no, not really, come to think of it..well besides my dad telling us not to smoke. He was a heavy smoker until 2 yeas before he died. He had to quit because of heart attacks. Besides that though, I don't either one really asked us to do anything they hadn't done, or weren't willing to do.
Wow, I never thought about that...makes me respect them a little more.
Edited to add: I know I can be a hypocrite sometimes. I think most people are to some degree..we are not perfect. In my case, I tell my kids to pick up their bedroom...but mine is usually a mess. I reason that it is because I have to do other stuff in the house too, but really, that is just a cop out. There is something I can work on. You know...that you for asking that question.
when my former congregation did a quickbuild in october, i worked with a reporter at a sister paper, a hard news daily, on an article that dealt with jws - including a fair amount of not-so-flattering background - pedophile issues, the effect of the net on the witnesses, etc.
i thought the reporter was really even-handed.. i posted about it here on jwd under this topic: newspaper article on jws today - write the paper - please!!.
while i had hoped for a little harder edge to the piece, i talked with my ex-wife a few minutes ago, and found out that she and the congregation were really upset about the article.
Besides the mention of the NH case, I don't see how the article was damaging...and why anyone at the hall would have been so offended. It seemed to be very accurate.
But, maybe I would have if I was an active JW.
sorry...there are just so many threads related to the "big news", reaction to the big news, and lastly reaction to the reaction to the big news...just couldn't help myself.. how about some fluff...just for a few minutes.
fluff can be good.. so, whatcha all doing today?
xmas shopping?
hahahahah bebu...that is funny.
before i created an account here on jwd, i was in a place where i really didn't care about the jw religion any more.
i didn't know or care to know about any of the "scandals".
i'd heard about the un/ngo issue and it raised my eyebrows.
As my rate of posts here dwindles, I know most of you here will begin to forget about me. This is fine. It is the way of things. I'm going to the Dallas 'fest this weekend, and I'm sure I'll get along with most. Maybe I'll meet some people I can be real friends with in "real life"... maybe not.
That is why I pretty much keep coming back. I was posting and reading a lot more when I first joined. Luckily, the DFW area has a lot of local people, so we seem to have a good number of get togethers every year. I think you will meet several people there you will want to keep in touch with offline.

Oh, well I just I have to put it into perspective for you.
I am a very big girl...sometimes things seem smaller to big chicks than to skinny good lookin' peeps, like your avatar.
