Good cop, Bad Cop...JW elder style
by Dune inwell i'm still a witness so i was out in field service yesterday with this brother.
our conversation hit the usual stuff cars, television, movies.
then he went on to relate how about a month ago, the two head elders (head as in, the other elders really dont matter)took him into the back room and fryed him.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Although, if this guy is working 2 jobs and STILL has time to go out in field service...what is their problem? As long as he is meeting the publisher required average to keep an elder at bay (I think in my congregation it was 10 hours a month) they should mind their own business.
However, it is easy for those that have "made sacrifices" to live under the JW rules to become a little bitter with those that may earn good money. I don't know if I would call this abuse, really. I would certainly call it rude, and stupid. I don't know if going to the circuit overseer would do anything but aggravate things for the brother involved. BUT if he was really bothered by it that much, sure, why not? I would just be careful though, because the circuit overseer and elders could turn it around, and tell the brother that he is not taking direction from the elders, and is putting material things before service to god...blah blah, blah blah.
The ultimate solution: leave the religion. (I know, you probably didn't want to hear that hahah). There is NOTHING wrong with working hard and making a lot of money as long as it is honest work. But the elders are the judges in the congregation...after all, they are the ones on the judicial committee are they not?
Anyway, that is my two cents.

Custody brochure next to be examined?
by alamb inthe blood information has now been dissected and shown for what it is.. .
the custody brochure encourages members to commit perjury, which is unconstitutional and unlawful.
this is another weak point.

Anyhoo...do you care to share some of your favorite versions?
I just found a kick butt version of Jingle Bells by Dianan Krell, the jazz singer/pianst. A great job. You can hear it for free if you go open up Windows Media Player and go to the Guide.
I also love Rocking Around the Christmas Tree by Peggy Lee (or is it Brenda Lee)
Jingle Bell Rock, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Let it Snow (of course I felt NO guilt singing those two)....the list goes on and on.
I have been listening to some of the free xmas internet stations to get my fix. And I do love Ava Maria...although I guess that isn't really xmas...and really religious...but it is a beautiful song.
What Christmas songs if any do you like?
