due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?

remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.

what about the thousands that don't get caught?

YODASTAR- Good points you make. Being raised up in the JW cult from birth I didn't realize how bad the child abuse problem was inside the Jehovah's Witness organization. Not until a few years before I exited the cult did I know how bad it was when a " brother " ran up to the stage as the WT study ended and grabbed the microphone from the WT conductor elder and yelled to the 150 in the audience , " Brother so and so who is sitting over there is a CHILD MOLESTER and he has molested 7 children through many years here ! " As he pointed at this " brother " who was a child molester the elder ( WT Conductor ) grabbed the microphone from this " brother " and stated , " Brothers and sisters we know about this situation and we are handling it. " This happened in 1998.

But this " brother " who pointed out the child molester became my new hero. So after I exited the cult in 2003 and read HOW bad the child abuse problem had become I realized WHY this " brother " felt he needed to grab the microphone and point out the child molester. Because elder bodies DRAG their feet in handling it AND the elders will NEVER inform parents in the congregation who a molester is ! So the " brother " took it upon himself to inform parents. Good for him. Otherwise- how would parents know WHO to protect their children from ?

As you mentioned many elders have been accused AND guilty of child molestation within the JW cult. Many times it gets buried, swept under the carpet and police authorities are not called. It's a secret organization hiding criminal actions. Shout it out loud to everyone you meet.

NAMBO- I'm so sorry your JW niece was raped by her own father. How disgusting. I'm glad it got covered in the media and I'm glad some of that family exited the JW organization after that happened. Need your thoughts... Again

(sorry for any typos, i'm on my ipad) so, remember how in my last post i mentioned that i had told some of my dear friends why i decided to leave?

well, one of those friends was a girl... not just any girl, but rather, a girl that i've loved since the moment i've met her.

she used to say that she considered me her best friend and we were really close she just never really returned my feelings for her due to different circumstances i presume.. but i always felt a connection.. anyways, after telling her that i decided to leave because of multiple reasons but that the tolerance of child sex abuse was the final straw, she responded asking where i got my information and that she wanted to talk about it with me.. this feels like an opportunity for me to tell her about my findings, what do you think?

Garrett - If you love her and she feels the same for you- you should be open to her. I would show her the NEWS you tubes of PBS News Hour and the ABC Nightline you tube as well which both were done in an excellent fashion. No apostate connections- just pure major news agencies presenting facts of WT child abuse that has occurred.

I would avoid saying ANYTHING to indicate you've received this information on any ex-JW website. Of course, that goes without saying. Good luck to you, with observing her response this may give you an insight as to whether you will be able to progress in a relationship with this person. I wish you the best

HBO Scientology Documentary

has anyone else seen the hbo scientology documentary 'going clear' - wow...cults are just mind-blowing you wonder how people can fall for that garbage, then you (those of us former/fading jws) look in the mirror.. i would love for someone to make a major jw documentary like this.

'going clear' is getting a lot of press.

poor tom cruise...he looks like quite the whack job in it too.

If the WT Society keeps getting coverage in the media about countless child abuse scandals- give it time- I believe ABC or PBS or some other major network WILL go after them. If they've gone after Scientology, Catholics, and Mormons - it's only a matter of time before MANY of WT Society's dark secrets are exposed.

That being said- I'm VERY glad this HBO documentary on Scientology took place. My wife and I are listening to it on you tube right now. Scientology is like Jehovah's Witnesses on steroids. The leaders are dangerous, violent, and many of the tendencies and shunning practices are VERY much like the JW cult. People need to be warned about the danger . Don't worry people- this will happen in an exposed fashion to the WT Society. Karma WILL come and bite them in the ass ; just like Scientology. Spread the word

How do you feel about religion as a whole?

it just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.

what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

A person doesn't HAVE to be religious to do good to and for others or to BE a good person. One thing that's always bothered me is how when I've met somebody for the first time that's a " born again " Christian or is very active in their church- when initially meeting them they always have to tell me " I'm a Christian " - or " " we're Christians " - and I feel like saying , " so your point is " ? I mean- I don't say when I first meet somebody, " Hi ! My name is Flipper, I'm an agnostic or atheist ! "

Point is - I don't CARE what somebody CLAIMS to be - I'm more concerned with getting to know who they are AUTHENTICALLY - not their branding or marketing of themselves through some organization or religious affiliation. I'm not going to tell somebody I'm better than them for being an agnostic or atheist- but by gawd- I'm not going to believe anybody that says they are better than me because they're "Christian" either. Because it has NO bearing on whether a person is evil or good. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Religion as a whole ? It sucks. Much of the religion today makes normal people turn their brains and neurotransmitters in their brains to superstitious silly putty - relying on inconclusive stories from the Bible and/or their Pastor's/ Minister's or elder's.

The rich, elite and powerful find religion useful to control the poor, downtrodden , insecure and weaker powerless people of society. People give all their power and control of their lives to religions hoping to find answers to life's questions - an easy way out - so to speak - so they don't have to find their own answers. It's much easier for some of these people to let somebody else explain the meaning of life to them , than for them to actually LIVE life in the here and now and not worry about a " living forever ", " going to heaven " , or a " rapture ". Reality is good- it's nothing to fear. So my message to religious people is stop being superstitious and enjoy living your life in the here and now. How I see it. Some people feel they need answers supplied to them- other people just let life educate them with answers learned in day to day living

IVANATAHAN & WASANELDERONCE- Thanks for the catch up on Rick's friend, Morgan. We initially started watching the show in it's first season, but missed some of the second season and so forth.
