Here's the thing about this. Regarding hypocrisy. Switch roles for a moment. If it had been any " ordinary " JW in that liquor store buying $ 800.00 or 12 bottles of very expensive Scotch Whiskey - and Anthony Morris was there observing the ordinary JW buying 12 bottles of Scotch Whiskey - would HE overlook the JW purchasing that amount of booze? Would he say something to that normal JW ? Like " we need to meet with you in the back room for counsel brother or sister " .
I highly doubt that he would overlook a purchase of that much alcohol by a " peasant " JW. Or follower. Having been born and raised in this JW cult from birth and escaping 16 years ago - I can certainly testify to the double standards among elders, leaders of the WT Society, how they feel that normal JW rules don't apply to THEM, because they are in charge. They're the boss, judge, jury, and executioner ( figuratively speaking ) .
Elders and WT leaders, circuit overseers, district overseers, etc. I saw time and time again feel that they were entitled to fudge any rules that were supposed to apply to all JW's- but not those in power. An evidence or proof of that is just look in the elders manual where it states that if an elder committed a sin of immorality like 25 years ago, and it was never reported - then the view currently is to drop the charge, let it go - because ( drum roll ) Jehovah's " holy spirit has evidently forgiven him for his sin. " And he remains an elder. But what if a normal JW reports or has someone rat him or her out for an offense from 20 to 25 years ago ? The elders attack and bring that person up before a judicial committee faster than flies on shit- I guarantee it. I saw it happen time and time again in the cult.
So to me THAT is the big issue here regarding Anthony Morris doing this. He feels the normal rules of JW land don't apply to him. One reason why elders who were child molesters get appointed again as elders in time after molesting kids. It's that whole ENABLING thing that WT Society leaders filter down from the top the mindset that " well, I'm an elder, GB member, who are you to question me " type syndrome. And an entitlement attitude among many elders. I saw it in my own elder dad when he was alive, and it's just a systemic problem of the entire WT Society JW organization. It will continue on until big WT leaders fall. Meanwhile normal JW's will be led like sheep, and they will not question anything- mistakenly thinking WT leaders have their back. Which of course, they do not. OK, I'm done. End of speech. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
