  according to the man that gave this talk, we don't need to worry about whether it was possible for the jonah story to be true (surviving in the stomach of a sea-going animal for three days without dying), it was true because god said it, and that's what proves it to be true.

  This quote evidences a naiveté about literature....that a story must be historical in order to express truth. Admitting that a story is fictional, that there is fiction in the Bible, is somehow verbotten. But why? Everyone recognizes the parables of Jesus as fictional, as stories made up to illustrate moral points. That is no problem. But there is a strange reluctance to view Jonah (or other legendary stories in the Bible) in the same way.

  I never thought about it that way. I wonder why people are happy to accept some as fiction but say that others must be fact.

  there are pedophiles in all religions, it is the fact that the wtbts has always pointed an accusing.

  but many of you have posted that they are about to rule change about the 144k... haven't they already changed the dogma if elders can't question... doesn't that mean anyone can partake?

  the first time i went to the doctors after i left i got my medical records changed but i shudder what would have happened if i'd had an accident in between!

  my heart goes out to the young husband and his new children who will never know their mom. so sad and such a waste of life.

  my ex sister in law called me this morning to tell me that bother had shot himself.. he was raised a witness but stopped going at 18. he was my favorite brother always level headed and smart.. except lately.

  apparently he has been robbing banks in ca this summer.

  he led the police on a freeway chase and decided to shot himself instead of go to jail.. now i am wondering how well i know anyone at all anymore.. .
