  you know, i knew a lot of bethelites and every one of them loved their booze.

  as an elder, i would entertain alot of the cos, dos and bethelites and their wives.

  it was not unusual for the wives to get loaded while they were at my house!

  if there is a god, do you think that the majority of jw's will be saved at armageddon?.

  i'm not asking if they have the only true religion, i'm asking if you think they would be saved along with others who do god's will sufficiently to satisfy him.....

  The bible says the wicked will be destroyed. The question is, what is the bibles definition of wicked. Is ignorance , sin and disobediense considered wicked?

  just a few interesting things i've noticed in exodus, not to mention all the way through the bible, but now just these few.

  in exodus 25:40 mentions making after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount.

  was moses shown pictures which we are not privy to.

  In chap 26 , the curtains for the tabernacle were huge. I always wondered how they resited the winds.

  Chap 28:35 wearing bells to be heard so he would not die. I wondered was that to alert someone.

  My mind works weird I guess , I must think about it too much. Anybody else have any of these odd scriptures.

  Jehovah's Witnesses more likely to be swindled by quack medicine and conmen

  we all know how every congregation has that elders wife who takes it upon herself to be the hall's resident doctor quinn: medicine woman.

  they are constantly pushing herbal supplements and natural medicines at the very least, and at times even getting a little "spiritistic" with some of the crazier quack devices out there.

  do i think they're stupid?

  The one thing I learned was never ever complain about any pain , because you would flooded with advice about cures , herbs, etc.

  Outlaw , you are right, if you ever wanted to start a pyramid scheme just go to the jws.

  Any architects, designers, or contractors here?

  i'm sick of my bathroom and want to remodel it.

  does it pay to have a professional architect design a rehab or should i just go to home depot with the dimensions and use their computer to lay it out?

  the space is pretty small for a bathroom and i'd like to maximize the use of space so i'm thinking a professional consultation would be in order.

  Avoid structural changes. If you keep the same footprint of your existing bath it will make things a lot less expensive. Adding the laundry area will cost you dearly. Any new fixtures should be the same diminsions as your existing. The best money you will spend is on a very good contractor. If your ideas get too complicated he will probably recommend a bath designer. Make sure what your local building department requires. Some do require an engineered plan if you make any structural changes. Your two biggest problems will be the new plumbing and electrical for the laundry room. The area may require a dedicated circuit for the washer and the dryer. Know your contract. Don't leave anything out that you want done. Know the contractors inclusions and exclusions. Baths and kitchens can create the most problems in remodel.

  The big problem is that we used to used cash to make our purchases , with minimal or no credit. Now we spend credit and very little cash. Our cash is now becoming worth less and less, credit is worth nothing.. The way credit is used now (with minimal payments, late fees etc.) makes credit not only worthless but cost you more cash, which is becomming more and more worthless. Americans are actually in negative savings for the first time. Americans are now purchasing way past what they can afford with flagrant disregard of the situation they put themselves in. Lenders were giving credit to anyone. It Is like if you went out on the street and asked everybody you seen if they would like to borrow a 1000 dollars no questions asked, how many takers do you think you would get.

  Because of the irresponsibilty of both lenders and borrowers our financial institutions are being wiped out .And now people who do not have sufficient cash will find they will not have credit either. Some of most renown economists see us at the precipice of a great finacial collaspe. Being in construction for most of adult life I have grown accustom to it , and plan accordingly. But even the best laid plans can at times prove fruitless. Just stay aware and good luck to you all.

  Fifty years ago, young sister, special pioneer, sweet loving person ,admired by everyone in the congregation, the epitome of spirituality, over night runs off with some 'wordly guy' leaves the 'truth' , completly shocks everyone including my own young self. Just goes to show you. Over my many years I have seen countless disfellowshipped, some surprised me and some didn't.

  I also thankyou for the irrelevant scripture thing . All the years I was in the org. I thought most of the scriptures never made any sense. It proves that the jws do not pay any attention to what they read. I have asked my wife hundreds of times what this or that scripture had to do with anything. And your analogy about poop is just what the jws are doing.

  Just a side point. I thought they were going to reduce the amount of paragraphs to be studied. I guess they lied about that too.

  The dumbest thing to me is why jws or anyone else for that matter think they have to have someone telling them how to live all the time.
