Paradise is going to suck!
by WasOnceBlind inonce you really start thinking about it, the whole paradise idea is kind of depressing.
i remember growing up as kids my sister was the first to tell my parents (admittedly very courageously) that she wasn't sure she wanted to live in paradise, it sounded boring living forever.
i thought she was dumb for thinking that, i mean playing with lions!!!!

So many JWs choose to be miserable now and neglect themselves beleiving they will do it all in paradise. Really makes me sad. They also expect to be miserable because these are the last days after all??!! -

Living in a world where everything is good and nothing is bad is like trying to make a world where everything is on the left and nothing is on the right. Nature doesn't work like that. -

Are you religious or are you spiritual? Wake up to what?
by Deltawave inthere is a huge difference between been religious and been spiritual.
been religious is about been superior to others in the sight of god.
however, been spiritual is about self awareness, inner peace and unity with the natural world.

Thanks Xanyhippe,
Frightened off is the wrong word but made cautious by the perceived bitterness of some members yes.
Im glad you dig what I'm saying. I feel there is alot of good about been a JW,
- Good morality
- Clean speech
- Simple life promoted
- Clean living
Ect..... But I don't agree with their religious theology. I feel that we do need to strive for something beyond the mundane matters of life, have a greater purpose but I'm not sure the JWs are the answer for that.
I Think most religions have good and bad in them, but that they all miss the point of what they are trying to accomplish.

Young baptism a double standard with marriage?
by thedepressedsoul ini remember tons of young ones getting counseled for being too young to date and for marriage.
the elders said, "marriage is the 2nd biggest dedication of your life (baptism being 1st), at 20 you still don't know who you are or what you want.
you can't possibly make a decision like that, that young!

I have had this debate many times with my witness family. Even though I was baptised at 11 I use that as my argument that I was way too young to have been allowed to make such a life changing decision. It is wrong. Legally you have to 16 or 18 to make certain desicions about alcohol, driving and marriage. Should be the same with baptism! -

I wonder if you can be spiritual and religious at the same time??
by Deltawave inok again i would like to apologise as i did come across preachy.
i am not going to debate whether or not i am a bk as you have your opinions either way.
what i was trying to write though was my thoughts and feelings which i hope don't offend anyone on this forum.

Cappytan I agree with your definition of spiritually I do wonder though if my use of the word "spirituality" is the wrong word as it can be used to form various ideas such as belief in spirits, desire to be one with God ect ect.
However, I do maintain that I believe we need to be aware of something beyond the superficial, something that stretches us to be the best version of ourselves, something that inspires us to be more than just biochemical eating, breeding machines and gives us a deeper sense of gratification.
Anyways, the main issue here is Watchtower theology is naff! Lol

Ok again i would like to apologise as I did come across preachy. I am not going to debate whether or not I am a BK as you have your opinions either way. What I was trying to write though was my thoughts and feelings which I hope don't offend anyone on this forum. I see many a Ministerial servant and elder measuring their spirituality by the amount of jobs and comities they are on and totally neglect the caring of the (PEOPLE) in the congregation which is what i think those roles are supposed to be about. I am therefore dis-illusioned by the gap between spirituality and religion.
I think that if there is such a thing as "spirituality" it cant be measured through how much underlining you do in a book or by how many jobs you do in a Kingdom hall.
I as an individual do still desire some form of spirituality in my life. A higher purpose other than eat, breed die. I have though developed after some research my own interpretation of what I think that might be which i was keen to share here as a newbie.
I hope this makes sense to you as fellow forum friends:0)

I listened. I obeyed. Then I realized...
by stillin inwhat was that blessing part about?
i kept hearing pioneers talking about the blessings that they were receiving and as i looked at their lives objectively, there really isn't anything special about them.
maybe they are just more appreciative of things than other people.

Most pioneers are kept women who's husbands work every hour so they can still have all the modern material things. Most pack it in as soon as it isn't financially viable for them to continue which always intrigued me as to what happened to the blessings lol -

Thanks Lisa rose. No I practice it in secret as my wife is 100% against it and thinks it allows demons into your head. Quite the opposite.
I've researched it on the WT library and it doesn't support it at all. I find it gives me focus, helps me deal with the stress of life and promotes well been. I've had my doubts about the Watchtower for years now.... I definitely won't be joining any other cult anytime soon BK or whatever it is they're on about lol
My username is is based on my fondness for mindfulness and meditation. However the delta wave is the brain wave of someone asleep. So if I as trying to promote another cult or sect I would have chosen alpha wave which is to be awake Haha
