I'm not sure about some of that stuff Carmel just said. But I completely agree with the first part. "Joe is stuck in the same rut."

Ever heard of Preterism, Joe?
Jesus came in his kingdom in a limited sense when he established his church by pouring out God's Holy Spirit upon his followers at Pentacost in 33 AD. He also returned in a limited sense in both power and judgement when he used the armies of Rome to destroy the city of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Both of these events took place in the lifetimes of his apsotles.
In the future he will he return in an absolute sense. When he does, Joe, I would not want to be standing in your shoes.

Does Knowledge of Evil Condemn Us?
by JosephAlward inordinarily i would post this topic in the "bible research" forum, but i found the following on the "friends" forum, in the "tree of what" thread, so i will leave it here.. achristian explains,.
[when] free people have a knowledge of evil they always, at least briefly, consider doing evil.
and, even having evil thoughts for a brief fleeting moment makes people less righteous than god.

Gweedo said >>>>>>>> Maybe God could have just programmed these lessons he wants us to learn into our DNA or hard wire it to our brain ... like in the Matrix.
Sorry, Gweedo, I didn't see "The Matrix." A dummy like me was probably reading a book at the time. One without pictures.
Man, you guys are something else. Let's see. You say if God had done it your way - the right way - the "Matrix" way - he would not have had to expose you to any evil for you to learn any lessons from it. And then if you were never exposed to any evil you would never be able to be corrupted by it. Because if there was nothing to corrupt you, or as Joe would have it if you were incorruptible to begin with, you would automatically be worthy of eternal life. Which you say God should have given you to begin with anyway. And you say God should appear right in front of you so there will be no doubt about his existence.
You guys have got it all figured out how God should have done it. He should have made nothing that might corrupt you, or made you incorruptible, so you wouldn't have to go to any trouble taking a stand against evil and for what is right. He should have put any thing he wanted you to learn or know already in your head to begin with, so you wouldn't have to go to any trouble learning anything. And he should appear right in front of you, so you wouldn't have to go to all the trouble of deciding for yourself whether God exists and whether you should serve him. Then you say he should just give you eternal life, not because you have done anything that might in some small way make you worthy of it. Like maybe freely loving what is good and hating what is bad. No, that might require that you go to all the trouble of actually thinking, all by yourself. Because even that it seems would be too much trouble for you.
How dare God require anything at all from you, just because he is going to give you eternal life. Of all the nerve!

Gweedo: I was only picking on your spelling because you called me "dummy." Ordinarily I would never act like such a jerk. Your actions were contagious.
>>>> Of course there is no mention of Satan in Genesis for some strange reason.
"So the Lord God said to the serpent, 'Because you have done this ... And I will put enmity
between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.' " (Genesis 3:14,15)With this passage from Genesis in mind, do you really think that anyone ever missed the idea that the snake in Eden was far more than an ordinary snake? I think it was always quite clear that "the ancient serpent [was] called the devil or Satan." Rev. 12:9
>>>>>> Well, I thought you guys were saying God was the one who set up the test. So I thought by that logic you'd be saying God made the snake talk. But it was Satan. Was Satan a paid agent of God or something?
God no doubt knew Satan would try to talk Adam and Eve into disobeying Him. He knew Satan's nature. So God probably arranged to have a snake and no other animal near "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" the first time Eve was alone near that tree. That way Satan would have to use a snake to quite fittingly speak through. I bet God knew Satan lacked the patience to wait for another opportunity, when he might find Eve alone by that tree with a bunny rabbit nearby.

Joe said >>>>> God now will receive from man exactly the kind of love you claimed he never wanted.
What AC said God never wanted was a love man had not freely chosen to give him.
Joe said >>>>>> I think your theology is nonsensical.
Face it, Joe, to you all theology is nonsensical. You know as well as I do that no matter how anyone believing in God explained their beliefs to you, you would say they are "nonsensical."
AC: Your comments made sense to me. I've saved them to disk along with some other stuff you have written for future reference.

Gweedo: I think AC answered the rest of your questions very well. But he missed one. Maybe he did because he thought you were just kidding, not seriously asking a question. But just in case you were I'll answer it.
You said >>>>> He also took away the snakes voice as punishement too it appears.
The snake never could talk. Satan just used that snake like a ventriloquist uses a dummy. You know what a dummy is don't you? That thing you called me. Me, the guy who is so dumb that he puts an apostrophe between the e and s in the word "snake's" and so dumb that he spells "punishment" differently than you do.

Gweedo: You said >>>>>>>>But he did give Adam and eve eternal life. He permitted them to eat of a tree and live forever.
No, he didn't. He was only going to let them eat of that tree if they passed their test which they failed. He never gave them eternal life. What book have you been reading? You cant give someone eternal life and then take it away. That's not possible. If they had eternal life they couldn't die. That's what having eternal life means. They died. So they obviously had never been given eternal life.
So your cookie jar analogy falls flat.
>>>>>>>>>Did God not punish the talking serpent also. The serpent seduced eve into eating of the tree they were told not to...As PUNISHMENT, as a consequence of this bad act God got angery at this highly evolved talkng serpent and made it crawl on its belly for the rest of its life.
The serpent was a belly crawler to begin with. Thats what serpents do. God probably just used a low down belly crawling serpent to picture that liar Satan. Then afterwards its belly crawling would act to remind us of his lies.
>>>>>>>>>> But a god that tells us he is a God of love and yet allows people to suffer disease and all sorts pain and suffering in this world, animals included...is hardly a god of Love, hardly lacking in darkness, hardly perfect. He's a tyrrant.
So you never allow your kids to suffer any pain to learn a valuable lesson for the future? I know you will say - "Well he didn't have to let us suffer so long." Compared to eternity these past few thousand years will seem like an instant. Guys like you and Joe always think you are wiser than God and are never humble enough to admit that maybe God understands things that you don't.

>>>>>>>> Why wouldn't God just make all men incorruptible to begin with, so he could let all of them have eternal life?
Joe, you are amazing. I will refrain from making another attack on your memory or reading comprehension skills like I have done in the past. Since maybe your problem is age related or due to some medical condition which you can't help. AC said earlier in this same thread, more than once I believe, "God made us free [able to do both good and evil, aka "corruptible"] so that our love for Him and for others could be true love, being neither forced nor programmed." That certainly makes sense to me.

>>>>>>>>>>> God, if he exists and is the creator of man, certainly seems to have the right to deny eternal life to man, but by what logic would it seem reasonable that he do so?
I think the logic would be that God would only want to give eternal life to those who had resolved in their own hearts that they wanted to live righteous lives. Then he could give those who had made such a resolution something they themselves desired, the ability to live a perfectly righteous life. Then as the Bible says "That which is corruptible will become incorruptible." 1 Cor. 15:42,52,53 Otherwise, if God gave eternal life to everyone, even to those who chose to live their lives hurting others, eternity would be a pretty unpleasant place to be.
