They say, "variety is the spice of life". I personally know of people with have children that don't resemble each other. You know, I don't let such things CONTROL my life. I have better things to do/think and I do them. Right now, I'm having a glass of wine !!!!

What accounts for our ever-changing view of ourselves?
by AlmostAtheist inbut i find that at times i feel like i've got a lot to offer -- at work, with my kids, here on jwd.

Being short, sports/baseball was my religion, one of the things you learn and except is, you win some games and you ALSO lose games. Home run hitters strike out more often than hitting home runs.
Try playing golf and you'll get my drift.

New Stupid Assembly Rules
by WTWizard ini have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.
some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.
i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

Sister-in-law attempts suicide
by golf2 inmy sister-in-law tried to take her life this afternoon.
it still remains to be seen if she makes it through or not.
though a witness, she's had many bad experiences in life.

Jaguarbass, without question she will be under medication and probably institutionalized. I just got of the phone with my oldest son (10:00 pm) and I told him that Joanne just called and she wants to finish what she started. She wants to see me. Tomorrow I will share this info with her intimate family. What a sad case scenario.
Thanks for your comments.

What is your biggest problem with the JW religion?
by jambon1 inif i had to be tied down i would say disfellowshipping.
totally unnecessary and i really think it spans itself into a lot of other wt policies/mindsets.

Right on Gumby. Doing any type of service for this society is NEVER enough. My son and I and went to visit her this afternoon and we still have to wait to hear how things will turn out. She is 57 years of age. Another brother from the north (Canada) will arrive soon and her daughter from Holland.
Her side of the family (not witnesses) has certainly put some blame on her religious beliefs.
We can only hope and give comfort to the family.

Report:
My sister-in-law requested to see my oldest son, he was a paramedic. Apparently they've had many discussions between each other and she requested to see him. I will go and visit her briefly. Her younger brother is a policeman, and between my son and my brother-in-law, they have had experiences with people under these circumstances.
No question she does need help, but, is she willing to help herself? I can only hope so. With my wife passing away last year (which she would often visit her) it doesn't help the situation. So, there's many contributing factors in deciding to take her life. So very sad.
Many thanks again for the encouraging words.

Tuesday 6:50 am.
Report: everything remains the same, only TIME will tell.
Purplesofa, yes, she must have a desire to live. Her problem has been keeping silent, she never shared/talked about her rape case until a few years later, this is not emotional healthy.
Her mom/dad and brother were never witnesses. Her oldest bro. was a witness, left many years ago. To do what she did in our small community will reflect negatively for the witnesses.
Again many thanks for the encouraging words. Will keep you posted.

My sister-in-law tried to take her life this afternoon. It still remains to be seen if she makes it through or not. Though a witness, she's had many bad experiences in life. As a child (not a witness then) she was often visited by a 'blob', some creature from the unknown.
She was raped at 16. She's had a bad marriage experience and is in the throes of getting a divorce. Her husband and his daughters did not make life easy for her. She has two of her own daughters and they are reliable.
She is very 'guilt' ridden and wanted to end her life. She slashed her throat and pierced her breast twice missing the heart by a fraction. When such incidents happen within your own family, it only solidifys what the witness program does to people.
48 hours will tell if she survives or not.
