i've been thinking this for a while.

even before the arc scandal.

it seems no matter what, the org.

Fisherman ...,Elders and MS, committed these crimes and they , the powers that be ,the G.B , .Legal ,dept. did not in any case in Australia , or in any Country overseas , did the Elders report Child sexual Abuse to the Law Enforcement Agencies , it has always been the policy to treat these situations in-house , and not to involve the police , social or child protection Agency`s , because they never did so .

It also has to be noted that individual publishers in the congregation have been involved in child sexual abuse that the Elders have been involved in judicial Committee matters within the congregation and again it has been dealt with in -house , with no involvement with the police or Child protection Agency`s .

We don`t want to bring reproach on Jehovah`s name .

So nobody in the Elder , Ministerial , Governing Body or the Legal Department ,ever notified the police or Law Enforcement Bodies or Child Protection Services of the Abuse against children under their care,.

And they never ever warned the public of a potential sex offender in their midst , who could still go door to door in the ministry ,failing the 2 witness rule , nor did they ever warn their own congregants of a potential sex offender in their own congregation .

And that remains a fact to this day.

Disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas?

i could really do with some advice on what's acceptable when you leave.

we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.

we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!

Welcome to the the real world , the ARC is an Inquiry into Institutional Abuse of Children by Organizations ,and as has been covered , can only recommend action be taken by the Judicial system where they see fit.

The ARC has no power to prosecute anyone itself .If they do make such a recommendation to the legal profession to investigate someone , it can take months or even years for this process to come to an end , one way or another .

The law moves at a snails pace , that`s the reality of it all .

Fisherman , how long has the Catholic Church been in , not only Australia , but the whole world , and they too are only now undergoing this scrutiny along with other organizations ,?

It`s long overdue.

WBTS goes to Court of Appeal (Charity Commission investigation)

after a number of high profile cases where both children and survivors clearly weren't adequately protected, the charity commission here in the uk launched an investigation into the wbts as a whole here in britain.

the main concerns are around the child safeguarding policies being inadequate.

wbts have fought every step of the way so far.. wbts have been to the high court, who told them to complain to the proper tribunal.. wbts have been to the proper tribunal, who told them that too darn right there were suitable grounds for the charity commission to want to investigate their inability to protect children.. and now the wbts have gone back to the court of appeal to demand that the charity commission inquiry be halted.. i hope the court of appeal tells them that, yes, they too need to have proper safeguarding measures for children and to get on with co-operating with the investigation.. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/charity-commission-defends-its-investigation-into-jehovahs-witness-charity-in-the-court-of-appeal.

Legalisms , Appeals , Loopholes , Etc.,Etc, Do not expect any decision anytime soon , this could drag on for months if not years .

Don`t hold your breath for anything like Justice soon .

I can never forget an Elder who was complaining about the Mormons who kept coming to his door and trying to convert him , ( they must have seen him as a potential convert ) yet he never twigged that householders viewed us in the same way.

Next steps for the Austrailian Royal Commission

since the watchtowers' lawyers have (a) failed to make any recommendations to the arc that would bring the watchtower up to date with "best practices and procedures" (b) have failed to submit a proposal for victim restitution (c) have failed to secure funding for a redress scheme and (d) have completely dismissed all the arcs' findings - what's the royal commission's next course of action?.

i see two possibilities:.

) negotiate a settlement with the watchtower.

Whatever happens , it wont be anytime soon , and in the meantime , the abuse of children will continue to occur within the religion , and the Judicial system will be partly to blame for not acting promptly enough , allowing it to drag on for months or even years , by their own admission.

Part of the problem is that the ARC has no teeth , it , in itself cannot prosecute anybody , they can only make recomendations to the relevant authorities .

And they need not necessarily be acted upon.

Justice is a rare commodity in the real world .

as i am aware a lot of posters are feeling down or grieving the certainties lost when their faith is revealed as nothing but the stories of mortal men...i am posting one of my favourite youtubers, philhellenes who, like the ancients you studied, contemplates that sense of awe that he is indeed fearfully and wonderfully made...and when faced with the inevitability of mortality he imagines the plight of the mayfly...and wonders" would it be cruel to tell an adult mayfly that it only has that afternoon to live...would it still fly as far and as high as it could?might it fly further and higher than usual?or would it forget about it's wings and sit on the water, head bowed, sufficiently traumatised to invent religion?".

we are privileged that after millennia we are some of the first life forms to know exactly how we came to be..and what we are made of ...and if that isnt miraculously awe inspiring,i don't know what is.
