Comparing the Septuagint to the Masoretic Text
by ILoveTTATT2 ini am going to start a thread comparing the septuagint to the masoretic text.for those who do not know what the septuagint and the masoretic text are, here's an introduction on wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/septuagint.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/masoretic_text.
i think that, more than anything else, the fact that the septuagint and the masoretic text are so different, is what made me stop believing in the bible.. since the new testament writers quoted from the septuagint, not from the masoretic text, one would think that the septuagint should be in all the current bibles, but the case is that most bibles today use the masoretic text as the basis of their old testament.

The WT sucks the lifeblood and natural feeling out of it`s members meeting by meeting until their is no empathy left in our souls , it`s only after we leave that we gradually get some sort of normality back again.
I recall a brother having a fit during a meeting , same thing happened ,the meeting kept going on while two attended to him .
And this is the last time I sign off smiddy

Young JW's attitudes
by Phizzy ini met an old friend last evening, a great guy, an xjw for longer than me.. during a conversation about our experiences since fading (neither of us are da'd or anything) we got to talking about the young jw's.. his wife is still in, and he has two lovely daughters who he is trying to teach the art of critical thinking so that they can make the right choice in the future.. what worries him though is that he is convinced almost all young jw's do not give a "proverbial" if it is the truth or not, they simply wish to remain in it because of the social aspects, loads of friends and activities that they feel safe partaking in etc etc.. so how do you convince these young people that they would have a better life if they left ?.
they see it as losing all their friends, and being alone and trying to build new relationships, which is mostly true.. how do we convince them to make the leap ?.
should they ?.

This is such a very good thread Phizzy
, I can go back over 30 years when my wife and i were attending meetings , however my wife would miss a couple of meetings week after week , and a freind of ours an Elders wife said to her don`t you miss the social activity of coming to the meetings ? In trying to encourage her meeting attendance
And this Elders wife was a social butterfly at the meetings.
If they don`t engage in this social activity at Jehovah`s Witness meetings ? where else can they go ?
LOL , where can they go ? Anywhere , Everywhere ,as they say the world is your oyster , what you can or can`t do is limited to your imagination.
Jehovah`s Witnesses stifle imagination /creativity , cast off those shackles and you can pursue your dreams.

Paranormal Warning
by Cold Steel ini've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.

Has anybody here had any experience with Stephen Greer`s Sirius Disclosure movement relating to Paranormal activity /UFO`s , or know anybody that has been involved with his project ?
I personally know a person who swears that their is something to it , conducting his own group of peole up to 20-30 sometimes , and their is no money changing hands in case your wondering .
This person is not religious and does not beleive in the Bible.
All of the group have experiences including skeptics that come along.
My hesitation /skeptism is that their is some form of meditation taking place beforehand in a communal , setting the stage .

Are hot springs and saunas approved by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by jwleaks insatan’s snares today.
in the main, satan’s tricks have not changed over the centuries.
in order for christians living in the corrupt city of corinth not to be “overreached by satan,” the apostle paul gave them strong counsel.

False Prophecy in the Bible: Zebulun
by ILoveTTATT2 inoops... guess they didn't look at the map when making up the book of genesis...(genesis 49:13) 13 “zeb′u·lun will reside by the seashore, and he will be by the shore where the ships lie anchored; and his remote side will be toward si′don..

Well if Zebulunites build 3 or 4 story high dwellings and stand tippytoe on the roof of their dwelling they should have a grand view of the seashore where the ships lie anchored .

I can truly relate to hedging ones bets , as I finally did it myself many years ago .
At first I bought into the JW religion hook line and sinker ,not planning for the future as the big "A" was just around the corner.
Even with a young family we moved interstate with no job and basically nowhere to live , relying on the hospitality of a jw couple who encouraged us to make the move , mind you I threw in a good job to make that move.
All in all we have moved at least 40 times in our married life , most of them have been rentals.
When I reached 40yrs of age I started to wonder and luckily I landed the job that was to be our lifesaver , 28 years I was their , good pay good conditions and superannuation ,
Thank my lucky stars I opted for that.,though it took many more years before I finally DA myself .
And we own our own home , no thanks to the WT society.

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not seek truth and prefer to follow their hearts...
by garyneal init’s been a while since i posted some thoughts of mine concerning the jehovah’s witnesses and the watchtower babble and trash society.
okay, i will be respectable and say it right, the watchtower bible and tract society.
i do, however, think about the doctrines quite a bit as well as the overall doctrines from christianity in general.

I don`t know so much about Jehovah`s Witnesses following their heart garyneal , I`m more inclined to beleive , they follow whatever the Governing Body / Watchtower says at the present time., and that can change any moment and as we have seen before it can mean a complete reversal of what they beleived previously.
To suggest they follow their heart , just does not compute with me , the majority of them have no heart , which is borne out by their treatment of their very own family members sons and daughters mothers and fathers who cut each other off in a blink of an eye , because the GB or WT says so .
