  That One Defining Moment That Changed Your Life.

  it seems that many times in life there is a moment or an action that changes your whole world.

  it could be just a look that someone gives you.. many times it can be something rather small.

  something hardly noticeable by anyone but you.

  That was a comment I made to a co-worker one time about the wonders of the human body , apparently he was a born in just coming back into the "truth" after being stumbled previously and after working with him for a number of years knowing he was" different" confided he was a JW , which I had never heard of at that time and I was 19.

  Curiosity got me to read any and everything he had , the name of God Jehovah being the defining mark.

  That was what got me into the religion

  After about 10 years in the religion a couple we hadnt seen in a few years called on us to say they were now living interstate and encouraged us to join them ,within 6 months later we went interstate and remained for the next 37 years

  That was two defining moments in our lives. and not all bad I might add.Their were some positives.

  Jesus and the fig tree, what are jws taught?

  in the story in the gospel of mark, mark writes that jesus is hungry and comes across a fig tree.

  mark explains that it not in season yet jesus upon finding the fig tree has produced no fruit kills the tree.. this story makes no sense if literal so do the gun teach that it literally happened?.

  blondie ,just curious ,what is the most number of persons who have participated in one year,I think their were quite a few when I last did it.

  I believe some hold back because they are superstitious ,either thinking they will be struck down by a lighning bolt if they join , or that you need to be some sort of Xian to participate in this.

  I say Hogwash ! ..... I`m an atheist not a christian ,yet I can acknowledge my friends on this board on this occasion .with a statement.

  If you are a Xian and you dont believe jesus birthdays on 25th December ,it should be no problem

  If your not a Xian , then theirs really no big deal , get on board.

  Sorry blondie I`m just trying to drum up a bit more support .

  Awkward exchange with my JW sister in law regarding the circle of life

  so we were at another family members home for a random celebration when the nature channel showed a killer whale eating a seal and my sister in law was horrified.

  we made a joke about the circle of life and i said something along the lines of 'everything that lives must die, the bible says every king must die, so even jesus wasn't immune'.

  after that comment there was an awkward silence with our jw family whispering to each other about my comment of dying.. once upon a time i asked my uber elder jw brother if he thought that he would not die and he asked me if i knew when god would start armageddon.

  Every living thing on this planet survives by killing off some other living thing ,whether its :

  The animal kingdom ,animals prey on other animals ,and fish

  Bird life ,birds prey on other birds and fish

  Marine life preys on other marine life.

  The insect world preys on other insects , and even some plants prey on insects.

  Humans prey on just about every living thing to survive including all of the above .

  And all of the above takes place while the "victim" is alive and fighting for its life and its own survival.

  JW`s bury their head in the sand when it comes to coming to terms with how nature works.

  We dont have Thanksgiving Day here in Oz ,however an AD on telly just said "have a happy thanksgiving day sale" some mob selling water tanks ,how was that for coincidence .

  "West World" and The Jehovah Witnesses

  sitting there watching the new hbo series last night, i couldn't help but laugh and think about the similarities.

  the creators (the gods) and the hosts (their creations) have an interesting relationship.. the "hosts" are programmed to have free thinking but only up to a point.

  just like the witnesses.

  in the event that one of the spouses is being psychologically mistreated in a very serious manner where his health is severely damaged and even his own life is in danger.

  is there a biblical basis for jehovah's witnesses for separation or divorce?.

  I was in a congregation where a female JW had been married four times , and she was still accepted as a witness in good standing , publishing and participating in the MS

  And another witness , a nurse ,who had a broken marriage from a "worldly" person married a JW and within a couple of years divorced him and was still regarded as a witness in good standing

  Wills - A disgruntled father making a final point

  an unusual and amusing will was contested in an australian court a few years ago.the deceased man separated from his wife in 1959 and shortly after the wife was baptized as a jw.

  in the following years their four children also got baptized.

  apparently this enraged the deceased for the remainder of his life, who was himself a catholic.his will included two conditions that his four children were required to fulfill before they would qualify to receive their share of the inheritance.

  I agree with you steve2 , but then what can you expect from uneducated JW`s who have only basic education skills ,who have rejected a higher education.

  I bet their lamenting the day they didnt take your advice ,poor sods.Dont you feel sorry for them ? (not)

  Kudos to their father for kicking them off the will ,all the more for the non JW relatives .
