I think you both have summed up the WT organization down to a "T"
Good observations.
ny times article: "--- 2 words for truth in russian,--" pravda, the malleable truth, and istina, the unchangeable cosmic reality.
it looks like wt writers like that, or think like that.
wt is constantly changing the surface truth, but can not change the underlying reality, no matter how many groups they overlap.
the letter below (translated from spanish) was just sent out yesterday to the minister of justice in spain by ex jws.
the collective group who did this have a website with this link: http://www.foroextj.com/.
email: abusostj@gmail.com facebook: www.facebook.com/abusostj twitter: @abusostj.
i have read through some of these, though not in complete, but enough to see some of these writings could fit into the wt views, such as arian beliefs of jesus.
it would also help separate themselves quite a bit from "christiandom" and their bible.
the "new light" of books not accepted in the canon.
As Phizzy says the JW/WT religion has accepted the Bible canon that Apostate religion namely Christendoms ,Catholic and Protestant Churches have agreed to , as to what constitutes the Bible Canon with the Catholic Church identifying the books of the Apocrypha .
Years ago in the book" Equipped for Every Good Work" which dealt with all the books of the Bible it did praise the book of Maccabees both 1 & 2 as being valuable for an insight into jewish history / culture ,if I remember it right.
It always puzzeled me why the JW`s went along with Apostate Christendoms definition of what constituted the Bible Canon.
But then again thats not unanimous either is it ? Russian Orthodox Church ,Polish National Catholics ,Eastern Orthodox Church ,Roman Catholic Church ,Protestant Churches The Greek Orthodox Church ,,and I`m sure their are a few others I have missed.
aren't there christian denominations who do not make false end of the world predictions but who nevertheless believe that the world will eventually end and paradise (whether in heaven or on earth) will come?.
it seems the watchtower was just jumping the gun when they made false end of the world predictions but they are nevertheless the right: the world will eventually end and paradise will come..
[this is what happens when the semester ends.
idle hands.
so i was thinking of how you would categorize the presidents of the wt, and i came up with this:.
what is your understanding on the earth remain forever???
today it's a fact (99,999%) that the earth will be consumed by the sun in the future be it 3 million or 3 billion years.
a topic we have been discussing here on paradise earth in the last two or three days and i notice no believer chimed in.
in 1967 richard avedon published a poster of his portraits of the beatles.
my jw aunt attacked it for being spiritualistic!
the "third" eye on george's palm was spiritualistic!
My young teenage son was into Kiss records ,what did I do ? I got rid of them and banned anything" Kiss" in the house
I`m also embarrassed to admit it now that I turned off the movie "Life Of Brian" after a few minutes because I thought it mocked Jehovah and the "truth" religion.
The Life Of Brian is now one of my favourite movies , such classic lines in it.
this place is great and it helped me.
for anyone i used to interact with, i think about you often.
i just wanted to read and catch up..
Welcome back Dinah ,Have you caught up with the ARC (Australia) into child sex abuse within the JW`s ?
Other sex abuse cases against the JW`s in Spain ,Canada ,The UK charities Commission ,The USA ,to name a few of on going cases before the courts.
The Australian ARC ,has been especially encouraging to people all over the world for their proffessionalism by the team conducting this inquiry .
A lot has been happening these past five years that gives us hope that things will change for the better one way or another.
Take care.
hey everyone.
so a few weeks back i getva knock at the door, i could tell they were jw immediately, its always obvious.
i think its just a regular door knock but at 5.30pm i did think it weird.
my sister got baptized at 17 or 18 years old in 1983. she was ripe for the jw picking as she was shy, quiet, naive and with low self-esteem even though she was tall and beautiful and she attended one of the best high schools in philadelphia.. she wasn't outgoing and she only went out on a couple of dates prior to her baptism.
she worked at a day care center.
she loved children and animals.
