  If the Faithful and Discreet Slave is Biblically based, shouldn't its term of indenture be long over?

  well, we start out with a parable which in the kjv reads "well done, o good and faithful servant", corrected to be a slave and one of significant authority akin to the "fisherman" or the shepherd.

  moreover it is collective.

  and it didn't know it was discrete until after attorney moyle was told by rutherford that he talked too much.

  Crazyguy , Every baptised witness of Jehovah is a slave to the Watchtower Organisation , period.

  If Jehovah God wants or needs a Faithful and Discreet Slave (class ) ,what does that say about him ?

  hello, i'm new here.. i'm a college student who has been raised in the "truth" for my entire life.

  i was baptized at 10 years old, and looking back now i know i didn't fully grasp everything involved, for one thing i don't even recall ever going to jehovah in a special prayer to dedicate myself to him, but anyway that's the past and my focus is really on the present.

  i'm currently pursuing an associates degree, but i find myself desiring to pursue a bachelors in my chosen field so that i may have a somewhat more secure future.

  Welcome to the board Saethydd I wish you well in whatever you choose to do.I dont envy you getting reinstated having to jump through hoops the way they make you do ,all meeting attendance ,field service if applicable ,studying WT crap

  But hey thats just me ,you do seem to have it all worked out and you have got good advice from folk on here.

  Ananias & Sapphire and JWs

  when people like ananias and sapphire tried to take the honor that did not belong to them, they were instantly struck with death-penalty.

  (acts 5:1-11) when jws did the same taking the glory of being god’s spokesperson on earth (by proclaiming to the world something as though god revealed to them—eg “generation that saw the events of 1914 would not pass away”) god did not respond.

  in the same vein, when moses and aaron said “they were going to bring water from the rock” (instead of jehovah), god punished them instantly.

  If nothing else, it should demonstrate to you that the Bible and its storys are nothing more than that, fictional storys.

  Charles Taze Russell started off his religion as a publishing endeavour which grew into a publishing empire and at the same time he was instrumental in establishing a real estate empire that his sucessors expanded upon.

  Lately we seem to be seeing a reversal of these fortunes with the sell off of properties all over the world ,the reduction in printing materials as well as the quality of such materials and the dumbing down of the content of the reduced printing that is provided .

  If the storys you mention in your OP were/are true ,then why has not Jehovah acted out his vengence on all the JW`s ,Elders MS ,and the rank & file who have committed crimes of every sort while still being in good standing as a Jehovahs Witness.?

  No such action has ever been taken.

  Google crimes committed by Jehovahs Witnesses ,every crime you can think of has been committed by them.

  How does the overlapping generation ( interpretation) apply to these scriptures ? ,part 2.

  i wonder how the overlapping generation interpretation by the wt /jw religion applys to these scriptures reffering to a generation or these generations.. a generation reffering to one that the bible scriptures acknowledge is approximately 50 years in length give or take a few years.. mathtew chap 1:abraham born in 2018 , jesus born in 2 bc , =2016 divided by 42 generations as stated in matthew chapter 1 amounts to 43 years for a generation.. so how does an overlapping generation fit in with the wt interpretation with this scripture for a generation.?.

  obviously an overlapping generation does not apply here .. so when does the jw/gb apply an overlapping generaration and when do they not apply an overlapping generation ?.

  Thank you The Searcher ,some time ago I posted about a generation lasting somewhere between 30-50 years but no later .

  I used three Bible accounts to support the scriptures definition of a generation fitting in with that.

  { By two or three witnesses a matter would be established Deut 19:15 }

  Thank you for those extra scriptures that support a generation being less than 50 years long.

  once again my depression has got the better of me and i must bow out for a time.. "the angels sang glory to god in the highest and on earth peace unto men of goodwill'.

  As zeb says ,he`s bowing out for a time .Because of depression ,should we leave him (or anyone else with this problem alone ) at this time ? or should we try to engage them in our social activities.

  One part of me is we shouldnt leave them alone when they are so down .

  The other part of me says leave them to sort out their own thoughts.

  My fear is that in that state of mind they may do something that they can never take back.

  The disappearance of the Special Committees

  as a part of the wt judicial arrangement, for many years there was a sort of review procedure called special committee; basically if a person was not happy with a decision or a particular situation they were allowed to write a letter to the society raisin their concerns.. the majority of these complaints were answered with a standard letter with the counsel of “leave matters to jehovah”.

  in some instances the matter was serious enough to warrant the need for a special investigation of the case to be done by a special committee.. at one time the travelling overseers were part of this arrangement; eventually they were dropped out of these cases due to the fact of their tremendous input on the decisions and also the implications when a wrong decision was reached.. the reason behind this procedure was that in matters that were really complicated it was not fair to make a decision based in letters and the clearest way was to have “boots on the ground”.

  normally a group of local brothers, appointed for this duty heard the cases and make recommendations to the branch.

  Surely shirleyW the witnesses could be far worse than other major religions simply because they are such a small sect yet the numbers of abuse world wide seems to outstrip the ratio of abuse of other religions.
