last night at the meeting, a local needs talk preempted the regularly scheduled part.

an elder who is the most society following elder talked about loving god and then he talked about bible principles such as marry only in the lord.

he talked of deut.

it's not really a funny subject, our getting old and our bodies falling apart.

sure, as the saying goes, hard work won't kill you, but it can wear out your body.

Some of these ailments just come and go over a period of time I believe.

I developed a pain in the arch of my foot that made it difficult to walk seemingly for no reason at all ,after a few months it disappeared ?

A similar thing happened with my shoulder pain when I would lift my arm a certain height the pain was severe again after many months it also just vanished , the pain not my arm.

Some years ago I lost the ability to have a " normal erection" , I`m still waiting for that to remedy itself .

i told my parents that i was considering taking some college classes, (of course they think that i mean at the community college) and that it would be a good idea for me to take the act (which i took on the 8th of this month).

i'm trying to take baby steps so it won't be a big shock to them all at once.

and just to make something clear, i'm not planning on starting college this fall, but instead i have my sights set on next year.. p.s.

Russia banning JWs might not have the "persecution effect" this time

russia banning the organization might not have the same effect as the earlier ban did decades ago.. more and more people have access to the internet.

it only takes a few russian jws to start their google search for the first time to discover the truth about their religion.. questions might arise, such as "why is jehovah allowing this to happen?

consider too, the schism that happened when the romanian jws were cut off from brooklyn.

Members of the United Nations should be monitoring the failings/wrongs / criminal activities ,abuses of children etc of organizations within their membership.

As regards Jehovahs Witnesses religion there are a number of ongoing cases dealing with child sexual abuses around the world.

Do these nations in the UN talk to each other ? Do they compare notes ?

if they did they would find that the religion of Jehovahs Witnesses fail dismally in protecting the children in their religion and even victimise them in some situations./circumstances.

country after country have found Jehovahs Witnesses wanting as far as protecting their children from abuse in their religious communities.

Spain ,America ,Australia ,the United Kingdom are just a few of the child sexual abuse claims before the courts at the present time.against the religion of Jehovahs Witnesses .

And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

When you do wrong or allow wrongdoing to go on under your watch and you become accountabile to that and are punished accordingly you cant then play the persecution card.and expect to get away with it.

Yet that seems to be the policy of the GB of JW`s

Languages, Dialects, Accents

just though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.

first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.

red, arrow, break.

Why would a parent name their daughter after her private parts ? I also thought virginia was a no-no to name a girl , I was confusing virginia ,virgin ,and vagina all in one.

Thats what happens when you get your sex education from your very young peers.

I was young.

Zeb you make a good point about how american tv /movies especially and to a lesser extent british tv and movies have influenced the vocabulary of the spoken word in australia.

We have been very influenced /indoctrinated in our language by these two countries.

Wasnt false religion supposed to have been wiped out before the all out assault on JW`s was going to happen ?

Also JW`s are only one of many organizations that are banned in Russia as extremists.

And the list outlined in Tass is mainly Muslim or communist/totallitarian countries so no surprise there.

So whats really new here ? a big fat nothing..

zeb ,i`m not so sure aussies fit this criteria OP in as much as we aussies tend to be more lazy in our speech.

I dont think 2-3 hundred years by whites in australia would/have produced very much difference in dialect

I have only lived in Victoria and Queensland both for many years and the differences are minimal .their is certainly no problem understanding anybody from any of the states that exist in Australia.

I think the example you give demonstrates that , as does , owyagoin ,gday

.Certain states have different words for the same thing such as port in Qld ,school bag in Vict. meridian strip in Qld. and nature strip in Vict. but again I dont think that is what the OP meant

It never ceases to amaze me how people like your wife/ex focuses on your failings ,percieved or otherwise yet fails to recognise or admit their own failings,wrongdoing.

i found this interesting bit of news release propaganda by the jws on their website dated april 5, 2017.. "russia's supreme court begins high-profile case against jehovah's witnesses".

For anybody who thinks the Governing Body are genuinely misguided or delusional to the point that they truly are directed /guided by Jehovahs Holy Spirit

This should be a wake up call

This type of deception is not the first and it certainly wont be the last highlights the Governing body know exactly what they are doing and that is to mislead the rank & file into believing they have the truth alone and that Jehovah God is blessing their efforts .

When in fact they are fully aware that no such reality exists .

The Governing Body use lies and deception to pull the wool over the eyes of all those under their influence.
