JWs and Pacifism
by pale.emperor inpacifismˈpasɪfɪz(ə)mnoun: pacifismthe belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means.. .
one thing that always irked me as a witness was their pacifism.
i totally agree that non violence is a wonderful way to live, but at the same time whenever i'd read or watch something about nazi germany i always thought being a pacifist in that environment wouldn't work.

I`m sorry pale emperor ,but jehovahs witnesses were never pacifists and dont claim to be.
Pacifism
ˈpasɪfɪz(ə)m
noun: pacifism
The belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means. They believe wholeheartedly in the" war of the Great day Of God Almighty" killing God knows how many people worldwide.
that hardly equates them to being pacifists.
Your confusing neutrality in Governmental affairs of any nation with being pacifists in war. While they may not engage in actuall combat in warfare themselves they do approve of Gods forces killing untold millions in the war of armageddon of their fellow humans.
Therefore they are not pacifists.

How can angels be sexually attracted to women?
by Island Man inthe nephilim account in genesis is utterly ridiculous when you consider that angels are sex-less beings and would therefore lack sex-drive and romantic attraction.
think of how difficult it is for humans with a sex drive to be sexually attracted to animals.
now take away that sex drive and it becomes literally impossible.

My question is how can a spiritual Angel for thats what he is right ? produce sperm that impregnates a human female so that she gives birth to an offspring .?
If an Angel can take on the form of a human whats the difference from what Jehovah created in the garden of Eden ?
Are they creators also ?
Is that who God /Jehovah was referring to when he said in Gen 3 :22 "the man has become like one of us "
His peers ? his equals ? other Gods ?

Interesting Take on Vows
by konceptual99 inso yesterday was the wt on vows.. it spoke, in part about two vows.
the vow you make in dedication and the vow of marriage.
here's how it describes them.. the most important vow that a christian can make is the one with which he dedicates his life to jehovah.

I have said it before and I will say it again .
Jehovahs Witnesses speak out of both sides of their mouth .
You cant trust anything they say or even what they put in print because they will change it given time.

Is there any evidence that the WTS stated the 20th century would be the last?
by TTWSYF ini know that other early dates are well documented leading up to 1975. it did seemed that the wts learned to stop setting dates, but i seem to recall talk about the 20th century will certainly be the last according to god's perfect timing.
i can't recall specifically where i heard such blatant rhetoric though.. anyone?
bueller?

If nothing else says that the Jehovahs Witnesses are a cult religion and they should be avoided at all costs is the fact that they "doctor" their own statements found in print.
As late as 1989, the WTS was still claiming that the end would happen before the close of the 20th Century
- see The Watchtower, January 1, 1989, page 12, paragraph 8.
Typically, though, the reprint of that issue of The Watchtower (i.e. in the "Bound Volumes") edited out all references to the "20th Century" and instead substituted "Our Time" in its place.
And lets not forget how they tried to shift the blame of the 1975 date for Armageddon in their publications onto the rank and file JW`s as being over-enthusiastic wanting the" end" of this system and the start of the" New System of things" under Christ Jesus and jehovah

UK Terrorists attacks
by Phoebe ini don't know if anyone has talked about this yet, forgive me if they have.
but i am just so, so sad that yet more innocent lives have been so brutally taken.
we've now had three attacks in three months and there has been countless terror attacks stopped by the police.. my jw acquaintances see these attacks as proof the end is near.

Edmund Burke's famous quote (disputed) is that "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"
Thanks simon for the quote.however I would change the words from "good men do nothing"
" to God/Jehovah does nothing."
Dont get your knickers in a not Phoebe ,JW`s are always looking for disasters natural or otherwise /Wars or terrorist attacks to push their agenda ,they have been doing it for more than a hundred years and they have never got anything right yet.
"Armageddon" has always been just around the corner as has the" Great Tribulation"
And their time-line is always way off.Because they dont know what they are talking about.
The king of the North was identified as the USSR some years ago (The USSR does not exist anymore)
The annointed were to become less in numbers as the years wore on ( In fact the numbers never decreased for 35 years 8000 and then actually increased to where they are today close to 16000 annointed)
Wasnt it just a few years ago they were planning a big expansion in KH `s growth ? around the world ?
What is happening now KH`s being sold mergers taking place on an unprecedented scale Why ? because the expected hope for increase is not happening .
In fact quite the opposite is happening their is no increase except for those already associated with JW`s such as children of JW`s in the western world .
The exception maybe in third world countries with low education and a lack of internet facillities.

We do sound like a cult
by notalone in"we do sound like a cult..." so in the last few conversations i have had with my still deeply in friend she has mentioned this a couple times when lamenting things that don't seem right.
she has a relative that left and is telling everyone jw's are a cult.
she is very defensive and deeply disturbed by this accusation.

How do you feel when people quote an inspirational or lovely passage from the bible?
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred to us today about how christians, including witnesses love to quote some lovely passage of the bible as proof of god's love, or the value of the bible.. but just because a small passage or sentence is quoted doesn't mean the whole book is to be valued.. for instance, there may be a nice sentence or comment expressed in the passage of mein kampf, but would that make the book or it's author worthy of quoting or following?
the entire book and its message needs to taken into consideration!
(obviously that author had genocidal tendencies and disturbing ideas).

I`m pretty bloody sure their are far more negative scriptures in the Bible relating to humans , life or death accounts than their are positive scriptures that are verifiable.
Lets face it the Bible speaks out of both sides of its mouth.
On the one hand it says this
on the other hand it says that.
