the governing body was unusually silent (in public) about issues of this nature except to pontificate in print in the most general terms.

jw's didn't fight in wars because we were neutral.

In the sixties or seventies if memory serves me correctly their was an article or two in a WT publication of a greek brother who was sentenced to five years jail for refusing millitary service and when that time was up he was re-sentenced to another five years jail ,and it may have even occured a third time .

And of course they were hailing it as a brother faithfully serving Jehovah under trying circumstances.

I often wonder whatever happened to the poor bugger and any others that had the same fate,

Thanks for the post terry about your experience`s in this regard , I would be as bitter as hell I think if I had gone through what you did.

Here in Australia we had a ballot system as to who was called up for service or not and my b/date exempted me.

I was one of the lucky ones.

Watchtower Annulled My Baptism

contrary to popular belief you can have your baptism annulled as i did by my local elders after my judicial hearing.. the watchtower of 1964 page 126 first paragraph clearly states that anyone that was committing a gross sin before, during and after their baptism is void.

in order to get right with the lord you would need to be re-baptised.

err no thanks, i'm not a believer!!!!.

When you get to my age you dont give a fig whether your baptism was ridgy- didge or not ,JW`s are irrelevant .

It is a misrepresentation to say that the money from the sale of the properties will be pocketed by someone. It all goes to the WT movement.

And the WT movement is in the pockets of a few someones .

Current JW Go Fund Me requests

this topic was discussed a few years ago and i thought i would have a look to see what is going on with go fund me's by jws.

i am astounded that there are a great deal more jws requesting money than there were a few years ago and even by pioneers.i've only looked in detail at a few jw go fund me requests but came across this one that i am stunned about on a number of levels.. my little maryhello friends.

meet my wonderful girlfriend mary, a 23 year old "need greater pioneer"serving in the english field in san marcos nicaragua.

Is it alright for a Disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witness to Date?

it is said that a dfed is handed over to satan and left alone in his or her gross unrepentant conduct.

however, you'll agree with me that not all dfeds are living that way.

the truth is that some have actually repented and stopped their bad conducts but have fallen victim to the legalistic and procedural expediences of the wbts which makes it very difficult for some to come back in the shortest period of time.

For example, some have written many letters, attended meeting but still not Reinstated!

If you cant, then by all means waste the rest of your life in a cult.

If you can, then by all means get as far away from the WT religion as you can .

Will religion ever truly be accountable for the abuse it has inflicted on children ? Sexuall or otherwise ?

the sad truth in todays society is that religion gets an out of jail card on so many levels and i cant think of how this situation is ever going to change in the foreseeable future.. my main fear is that the few investigations going on is just to appease those clamouring for justice .. and the forces in control are just seen to be doing the right thing whereas nothing concrete except for some small token judgements will ever be executed.. call me a cynic but i doubt the arc will bring about much change at the end of the day.. remember they dont have much authority to do anything except advise..

I must admit when I first heard it in 2014? I thought what a catchy tune and the marines ? certainly gave it their heart and soul in singing it.

I wonder if it had the same upbeat sound that the soldiers gave it when it was first performed.

And I must admit when I first saw it years ago that it might have given rise to a war of Islam and Christianity a holy war.

Apparently /hopefully that was / is not the case.

The net result of this action has been that all 7,000 elders and ministerial servants have been forced to comply with the WWC as well as several thousand pioneers and publishers who preach to or study with children.

I wasnt aware that it included pioneers and some publishers either jwleaks

That is very good news.

And you guys passing this information on to your respective goverments could go a long way in making the WT.org accountable for the abuse of children happening in their religion in your part of the world.

Thanks for starting this thread zeb .However these are only recomendations from the ARC at this stage and not law (yet)

The Catholic Church has already objected to Clergy divulging confidential information given to them in the confessional saying its not going to happen and clergy will break the law and go to jail if need be rather than break this church law. According to a R.C.Cardinal

Who knows we may even see the Jehovahs Witnesses being a friend of the Catholic Church in a court of law if it gets to that point.

They got into bed with christendom in a court of law once before right ?

Interesting times ahead though.
