Greetings COMF,
Should I go back and thrash Rick for his "don't let the door hit yer butt on the way out" comments?
Naaaaaaaahhh! He does a good enough job of doing that to himself!

three reasons why we believe the jehovah's witnesses have the truth.. 1. we will live forever in paradise and watch everything die over and over.. 2. because we don't trust our familymembers or friends who were very close to us, are apostates now.
but the governing body, who we don't know at all, trust our lives to and do everything they say.. 3. governing body can't find willing women to have oral sex with.
so nobody can.. enchanter
: The Jehovah's Witness believe three inportant things, that certainly point toward them as being modern day Israel:
: They are:
: 1 - Called by God's own name, as were Biblical Israel
: 2 - Monothestic, or a one God concpt, just like the Biblical Israelites
: 3 - Iconoclastic, or no images used in worship, again, like natural Israel
Of course your little list includes NOTHING that makes dubs unique. They are not the only religion who identifies themselves with God's name, nor are they the only religion who includes God's name as part of their religion's name (as if what NAME one religion calls itself is so earth-shakenly important to God in the first place.) In fact, the only reason they even adopted the name "Jehovah" in their religion was because Grudge Rutherford wanted more material for the 1931 Columbus, Ohio convention. The night before he was to speak he had a dream and bingo! It came to him! "I'll call my little cult Jehovah's Witnesses!" And so it was. So desperate for "proof" that it was God's will that his cult have this name, he used Isaiah 62:2,3 as evidence. Unfortunately the Judge didn't bother to read verse four which states that this "new name" would be "Hephzibah" and NOT "Jehovah's Witnesses." (NIV) I guess Freddie was embarassed enough about this that he used the translation of the name "Hephzibah" ("My Delight is in Her") instead of the actual name as do other translations.
Dub leaders also don't like the pesky fact that the Bible clearly states that Jesus' name was to be above every name. (Phillipians 2:9) Here again, Freddie took the liberty of putting the word "other" in brackets to "clarify" the scripture so that it would be in accordance with WT doctrine, even though there is no hint that was what was intended from a reading of a Greek interlinear translation. Nonetheless, that scripture makes it quite clear how important Jesus' NAME was to be to Christians.
Now, since it is a BIG deal in the dub belief system that a name (in this case God's name) is so important that a MAJOR part of a "framework" which points to the true religion would be that the formal name of the religion itself includes God's name, it would be logical that ANOTHER important part of that framework be that Jesus' name also be prominent, yes? Since dubs are in the advertising business and since the single most important part of their advertising business is book-selling, one must conclude that Jehovah's name would be splattered all over the titles of the many dozens of books that they've produced over the last 1 1/4 century, yes? Yes. And in fact it is so. There are a BUNCH of dub books that contain "Jehovah in their titles. Well, what about the SECOND most important name in the Universe, that of Jesus or Christ? How many books has the WTS produced which also contain that name in their titles? Can you name just ONE? Betcha can't. Go back to Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Freddie. Just find ONE book that contains the name "Jesus or Christ" in its title. Yet dubs call themselves "Jehovah's Christian Witnesses" and don't bother to even give Jesus prominence by using his name in the title of any of their books. Even in prayers, Jesus is generally only mentioned at the end as a secret "password" to make sure the prayer is heard: "weaskthisallinthenameofJesusChristamen."
Next, dubs are certainly not the only monotheistic religion either, and also not the only religion which rejects idols.
Nothing unique there.
: JW's certainly have a framework of the truth (Romans 2:20)
LOL! Two thousand years of each generation of "the Slave" "feeding" each other, and then a restitution of the "true" religion in the late 19th Century, following by a "cleansing" and "approval" and "appointing" as the "refined Slave" in 1919 nearly four generations ago and after all that time all that has evolved is a "framework" consisting of those three puny things you mentioned?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
It just isn't logical, Logical.

hello everyone: i have been away for a while from various forums.
i saw farkel's recommendation to check out this site at jwd.
so, here i am.. the issues surrounding pedophiles is taking on momentum, and i just recently learned that my son-in-law's dad (a jw) was arrested for molesting a minor (not a jw).
: Welcome to this Home Sweet Home. It's a bit more respectful and quiet than the other house,
We can work on this part! :)

my dilemma.
those of you who know me personally and via the web will know that i am a studious person.
now take a look at genesis 36:31. this verse says these were the kings who reigned in edom before any israelite king reigned.. at the time of writing genesis, they were no kings of israel.
: Sitchin, along with Erich von Däniken and Immanuel Velikovsky, comprise the holy trinity of pseudoscientific mythmakers regarding ancient history. Each begins with the assumption that ancient myths are not myths but historical and scientific texts.
I've read von Daniken and Velikovsky: they are both crackpots, no better and no worse than Hitching. A little bit of logic and common sense is all it takes for one to challenge their theories on any number of fronts.
On the otherhand, there is the late Joseph Campbell who is a genuine scholar. His books on myths and folklore are well-researched and meticulously presented. Have you read any of his books? If not, I do suggest you do. He's not especially kind to Judeo/Christian dogma, but then again, Judeo/Christians are well-documented genocidal maniacs.

despite an abundance of evidence that hits at the heart of the wts, it should be no surprise that many seem to ignore everything and continue.
you may wonder why particularly as many of us were in the wts and did not ignore the comprehensive mass of proof against the claims and teachings made.
typically brothers can enjoy themselves as elders.
I see you've received lots of kudus for your post and that is no doubt due to your obvious compassion for those who have seen the WTS for what it is, yet still remain its slaves.
There is another side to that coin, though. Those who know that the WTS is no more God's chosen group than the Rolling Stones, yet still act as if they are loyal believers are living, walking and talking a pack of lies. If they have children at home and discuss the WTS party line with them, they are telling dangerous lies to their very own children. If they are hiding their true feelings from a spouse, they are liars to their spouses. If they are elders, they most certainly must engage regularly in field service, and in doing so, they are spreading lies to innocent people at the doors.
I'm not talking about innocent "white" lies, either. I'm talking about dangerous lies that can ruin peoples lives and psyches. Lies like "only Jehovah's Witnesses will be spared Jehovah's wrath at Armageddon"; lies like "Jehovah's earthly mouthpiece is the FDS, and if you disagree with them you are disagreeing with Jehovah"; lies like "sacrifice everything in your life but tellings others about the "Good News(tm), or you will die." That would include forsaking quality time with your children, and spouse, and getting a good education and being able to provide well for them.
The price one pays to his/her personal integrity and honesty for staying in until the time is "right" is a huge one. Breathing and knowingly living a total lie has to be one of the hardest experiences any decent human being can face. Such a person is aware that s/he is a coward and that doesn't do much for self esteem.
There are those who know the lie yet still feel they would do better by zealously working for reform from within. For those I have more respect than for those who just go along with the flow and do nothing more.
I find it incredibly ironic that the Watchtower Leaders have made such a big deal about JWs who have had the courage to stand up against ruthless political regimes and end up murdered as a result, yet these same Watchtower Leaders have turned their own followers into such wimpy cowards they don't dare even quietly speak a word against those religious masters. The reason they can do that is obvious, though. Those who are murdered as a result of standing up for the religion are convinced they are assured of a shot at eternal life. (Another BIG lie.) Those who stand up against the WTS are outcasts and all their fantasies about being rewarded by "Jehovah" are dashed to pieces. They are on their own.
But they would be free from tyranny and no longer living the Big Lie(tm).
I know that my statements are generalizations and can't be applied to all cases, but in essence that is the way it really is.

Thomas Paine's Age of Reason is a great book. So is Common Sense.
With regards to the flood there are two other obvious reasons why it never happened. There are many anmals who eat fruit and cannot survive without fresh fruit. How in the world did fresh fruit last for nearly a year on the ark? Contrary to the straw-eating-theory folks, there were also many carnivors which needed to be fed. How did Noah and Co. keep enough fresh meat for a year for those critters?
But the MOST important problem was the poop. And the pee. You've got a vessel about 170 yards long (1 3/4 football fields), 25 yards wide and three stories high just chock full of critters. Critters poop. Just the logistics of four men and four women taking care of the poop makes the whole flood story go right down the toilet. (No pun intended.) With three stories of critter poop we're talking about the length of FIVE footbal fields these people would have to constantly run up and down all day long for nearly a year. Even with wheelbarrows it's not a doable deal.
Noah: "Hey Shem! Rhino poop on deck three! LOTS of it! Papa Rhino has the runs. Big time!"
Shem: "Geeez, Dad. Why do I always have to take care of the Rhino and Elephant poop? Why can I get "squirrel poop" detail once in a while?
With all that poop to take care of, how could the Noah family have time to feed all those animals, or for that matter, to actually take the time to poop themselves?
With such a scenario and in my humble estimation, the only critters that could have survived such an ordeal would be flies. They would have loved it.

I tried to show you to how to provide an in-line link but apparently this board parses HTML code differently than that water-logged board. Write me and I'll show you how to do it.
