You are minimizing what's "on topic" at this board and maximizing your own agenda in significance. I only asked you to adhere to the former and not promote the latter. The rest is just whining.

Stop whining. Post here if you want, but remember what this board is all about. It is not about "truth" as you know it, but about "truth" as dubs are taught. You see yourself and promoting the "real" truth and I see myself as exposing "fake" truth. When I get a few voices talking to me all the time, perhaps I'll feel like you do. Alan is MY friend and we've discussed this matter at length for over four years. He has ALWAYS stated that he is convinced the WTS will always be around, even if it is greatly reduced in membership. He is not interested (nor am I) in its "demise" (death), but rather in its shaping up with the way it abuses its followers. I know this for a fact, because Alan and I ARE friends. You are talking out of your ass, because you and Alan are NOT friends. You should try becoming friends with him, and only THEN would you know what he REALLY thinks, instead of making crap up like you just did. You had your chance several years back, btw. He gave you his: address and phone numbers, because you, in your infinite wisdom called him a coward. He then asked you to do the same for him. You gave him a bogus phone number to some sheriff in Texas that you knew. You laughed about it. You taunted him about it, yet HE was honest and straightforward and you were the bold-faced LIAR and proud of it, too! Perhaps you weren't on your current medication then, I don't know. But I do know that is exactly what you did and you did that without shame. Alan was TOTALLY honest and open with you and you were a coward about your identity and a liar. "What do JWs have to fear from apostates," you asked me on the YK thread. A LOT! You've proved my point by your past conduct. What would you have to fear by revealing your identity and phone number from someone who had ALEADY revealed his identity and phone number to you and about ten thousand other lurkers?

When you start mixing metaphors, I stop my efforts. Darkness (i.e. no light on the earth) and evil (i.e. wickedness) are apples and oranges. And your notion that God experienced evil before man's fall or Satan's rebellion is anti-Biblical. I know you believe the Bible is screwed up just like I do, but I'm interested in dub issues, not your opinions.

It is supremely convenient for you that while dubs rely on "progressive revelation" via new light through their bi-monthly publications, you trump them with "progressive revelation" in your head, ad hoc. You are welcome to your ideas, but again, your ideas don't interest me because they are not dub-related: they are Shelby-related.

I'll stick with my interests and the interests of this board, which are mostly inter-related. I ask that you do the same with regards to the interests of this board. There are many soapboxes for you to stand upon, but this is first and foremost a DUB-issue board.

The Rainbow as a sign to Noah

i don't know if this has ever been brought out - i just thought of it:.

the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?

) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?

The rain lasted forty days, but it took the most part of a year for the waters to recede. When the highest mountains on the planet are covered with water, the water takes a while to go somewhere. Where it could or did go, I haven't a clue. Mount Everest is nearly five miles high from sea level and the seas and oceans would have had to also have another five miles of water on top of them because gravity always dictates that water will take the lowest ground. So, it probably took about a year for that water to "go somewhere."

I know! God had another "drain" in the earth somewhere, and he pulled the plug on it. Up to five miles of water over the entire earth, just went down the drain, so to speak! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Nothing in the Bible says that only non-pregnant animals were permitted on the ark, and even if they were, I'm sure Noah and family were not veterinarians, and probably didn't have time to stick their hands in there to determine whether that elephant and rhino were pregnant, or not. Even if he did do that, I'm sure the elephant and/or rhino would have been highly pissed at the invasion of their privacy. It's best not to piss off pregnant rhinos. They have no sense of humor. Non-pregnant rhinos have no sense of humor, either.
Rhinos are not happy-go-lucky creatures.

Now it's possible that God brought non-pregnant animals to Noah for their stay in ark-land. That is certainly possible. It's also possible that God "beamed" over Kangaroos and the platypus and the Koala and other non-local and exotic species, because they certainly were not good enough swimmers to navigate thousands of miles of ocean to get to the ark. If they could do that they wouldn't be in the best of health when they arrived. (Farkel is trying to imagine a Kangaroo "swimming" across thousands of miles of ocean and the poor Koala stuck somewhere in Egypt trying to get to the Ark. "Where in the hell are those eucalyptus leaves?", he thinks as he crosses over
Egypt. Damn! I'm HUNGRY!")

Forget all the logical dilemmas, just "trust in Jehovah." Pflooooooooooot!

Blood, The Watchtower and Deceit

while much attention is given to doctrine in sites such as this, very little is noted about the watchtower societys intellectual dishonesty in its publications, especially when it comes to quotations.. oftentimes the societys writers will cite a scholar or author of some repute: "professor blank observes that blah, blah, blah.

" the reader assumes from the quotation that professor blank is in agreement with the organizations position, of course, and that the quotation chosen accurately depicts the authors thoughts.. heres the catch: the words between the quotation marks may be accurate, but the snippet may not at all faithfully represent someones actual thesis or position.

much like a newspaper ad for a movie that quotes a reviewer as saying "monumental!

Maximus is not just some schmuck that blew into this board. How many former District Overseers posts in here? How many people who intimately knew and were peers with Fred Franz and Nate Knorr post in here?

He kinda shamed me when I trivialized his post. And he was right. I did just that. This post deserves another shot and deserves some comments. Maximus is a good friend of mine, and good friends are hard to find.

Maximus has told me that he doesn't give a rat what the WTS knows about him these days, so I'm hoping I'm not out-of-line in telling you who don't know him a very little bit about him.

He has much to share and he should be welcomed with a better welcome than what he has received so far, IMHO.

Now that you know a little about him, what do you say?

This ia a bit off the topic of your thread, but it brought up in my mind something I'd never thought about before. Noah and family and animals were on the ark for about a year, right? There was EVERY type of basic specie on that ark too, right?

What do critters do? They breed, that's what. Ark or no ark, they breed. Felines and canines have litters, and so do rabbits and mice and ferrets and most smaller animals. Rabbits breed four or five times a year. Some insects lay thousands of eggs. Birds lay eggs, with clutches of eggs as high as four or five per clutch. It has already been demonstrated that the ark with its dimensions as described in the Bible could not possibly hold even the most basic of animal varieties, let alone be big enough to feed these animals for a year, but now we're talking about BABIES from ALL creatures born over the span of a year! Where was the room for all those little suckers? The poop and pee problem alone could not have been dealt with with only 8 caretakers for ALL the non-seagoing species on earth, including insects.

Did Noah and family toss those little ones overboard when they were born? The Bible doesn't say. Desperate apologists will use some sort of reason like, "well, maybe God wouldn't let them thousands of different kinds of animals get pregnant." Sure God could do that, but God could have also killed the entire planet of wicked humans with a blast of his breath and not caused a flood, either. Why does the OT God always have to do things the hard and stupid way? He doesn't have an ounce of common sense, if the OT is to be believed.

Considering the varieties of birds, insects, spiders, rodents, and the much bigger animals that HAD to be on the ark to preserve the animal kingdom, and considering their abilities to breed, Noah and his 7 helpers would have spend an entire year just heaving newborn critters over the side of the ark. But even if that were possible, there is still another sticky problem: the amount of rain that must have fallen to cover the earth with water as the Bible describes would have KILLED any human who stepped out in the rain to hurl those newborn animals overboard.

I know how Noah disposed of them: he tossed them all down the drain! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I know: "trust in Jehovah." Yep. That's always the last-resort answer. Trust the guy who rubbed all of his children off the whole planet. Ok, fine.

here are a few notes i took at the friday session of the 2001 "teachers of god's word" district convention.

i thought i would share these upbuilding theocratic point with my new friends, along with my thoughts as i was listening to the program.

1st instruction of the day: sing loudly and listen to the prayer!

Thanks for sharing your assembly notes! It's the same old crap they were saying 30 years ago, right before I left, except back then 1975 was used to whip up a frenzy.

I'm particularly disgusted with the "experience" about that youngster giving up a college scholarship to see Watchtower books. I thought they had backed off on that, but as you stated, I guess not.

: Observation: With only a small number of exceptions, the experiences were given by brothers merely relating the story, rather than the individual involved. Is this some kind of new experience standardization?

Over the last few years several have commented that the convention organizers are frustrated because they can't find any local experiences with local residents to share at the assemblies. It's a real problem and especially for Circuit Assemblies: twenty congregations, zero experiences worth relating at an assembly. Why doesn't the WTS get a clue and realize that their tactics and recruitment methods are NOT working. Same is true with baptisms. Many circuit assemblies have only one, two or even no baptisms these days.

Maybe there were only a grand total of four "good" experiences in the entire Watchtower world, and those four experiences are being shared at ALL district assemblies! Wouldn't THAT be a hoot? :)

I was recently told by a good friend who talked with someone who attended the San Diego assembly a few weeks ago. He said that Sydlik looked terrible; he's aged a lot in the last few years. He's about eighty now, so that's undoubtedly part of it. But is it ALL of it? Is he sick? Has he been under a lot of stress regarding the many problems the society is facing? My friend didn't know for sure.
