Great job guys!
Dogpatch- your website(s) have contributed to the mental freedom of many. I trust this new endeavor will do the same.
Thanks for your labor of love.
after three weeks of putting in long hours zen and i have put up a new look on the well-trafficked (#2 in pagerank for all ex-jw-type websites) site that doctors and medical students regularly go to for accurate information on the watchtower's current stance on transfusing blood components, etc.
fred rusk and gene smalley will love what is coming up.
but surprise!

it was late june of 2001 that i was appointed as an elder at the amazingly seasoned age of 26. a true lifelong goal had been achieved.
i had to be appointed an elder before 30. already, peers were starting to be appointed.
i had to make it.
Jeff,
Very well written and touching.
My epiphany came from events surrounding 9/11 also- although not at that exact time. I was listening to an interview with a muslim extremist on National Public Radio some years later. The fellow was asked about his view on the death of innocents- and he basically said "there are no innocents" The Christians and Jews deserve to die and should die because they oppose Islam. The interviewer went further and asked about fellow Muslims who die. He said that Muslims who are from a different creed or background (Sunni, Wahabi, Shia, etc) are also not true believers and must die according to the holy books.
I thought- "Thats what we think!" People who do not believe the same as we do should die- and will die in Armageddon!! The rididulous-ness of it hit me like a load of bricks- that someone should allow or condone the death of another based on their interpretation of an old document- is insanity. Why is Mother Theresa considered an evil person by the Witnesses? Because of her thoughts on the trinity or cross or the roman heirarchy- meanwhile she is universally known as a selfless, charitable individual.
That epiphany did more for my exit than anything else.
Thanks for the post Jeff- it brought back my thoughts.

it appears that the residents of brooklyn heights have figured out a win-win.
wt moves out.
wt buildings are converted to residences.
It may look like a lot of buildings- but if some of the bigger lynchpins sell- they wont have any reason to hold onto the rest. If Columbia Heights (squibb buildings) sell- or a couple of the factory buildings sell- that's it- they'll sell everything else off.
Then everyone moves to the compound!!

Cool!! I even drew out a 2012 end-timer!!
I must be improving as a poster!

Oh yes- Brooklyn Heights will really blossom then. It is such a great neighborhood. The "bots" definately have a negative impact. My prediction- Wt will become an even more closeted, backwoods religion. No matter how hard you try- you cant see the real world past the walls of Patterson and the cornfields of Wallkill.

It appears that the residents of Brooklyn Heights have figured out a win-win. WT moves out. WT buildings are converted to residences. Piers get made into a park. WT makes lots more money from sale of buildings!!! Has to happen by 1/1/14
talk to flipper this week and wish him and all those well who will be at the apostafest this weekend.
since most of us will not be there here is our opportunity to wish them all well and have lots of fun.

have a great time guys! dont start any forest fires....
last night, completely out of the blue, my 6 year old daughter, asked my wife and i why we don't go to meetings anymore.
she actually said that she misses them.
i know, where have i failed!!!.
I faded when my son was 7. He was very happy to be able to have a real birthday party. I recommend talking frankly about your issues with the "former religion". There are too many scary stories out there about relatives bringing the children back in. I worked hard to innoculate my son against all that cult Bullshi&. You dont have to use the word cult- but explaining why certain doctrines made no sense to you any more helps alot.
I thinks that children are smarter than we give them credit for- and do not (contrary to witness belief) naturally believe in God. Children are naturally inquisitive, reasoning, and questioning. Only when their parents present something to them as "the truth" (repeatedly) do they accept it. Presented with openness and questioning they do much better.
over the christmas holidays, a witness dropped off a whole bag full of magizines, etc for me (like they had been saving up my order for the last 3 years at the hall).
i briefly perused them and then dumped them in the recycling bin.
one of the issues that caught my eye and offended me was a magazine that showed a bunch of angry white guys (they looked like labor union leaders) carrying signs- the headline was "athiests on the march".
