  The JWD stigma about being "nice"

  i'm back from a little jwd break and i'm happy to see that things are not as volatile as when i left.

  however, some things never change.

  and one thing that seems to be a constant around here is the mentality of some very intelligent and knowledgeble ones (in their own minds at least) that if you are "nice" you are some how emotionally needy and/or not too bright.. i don't think the "happy people" on the board have anything against people with high iq's.

  It needs to be acknowledged that the Cuddly Club were the first to raise the issue of the lack on 'niceness' on this Board by, in many cases virulently criticizing those who chose a less couched form of interchanging, it was NOT an issue started by the 'mean' people on the Board. I merely pointed and point out what bloody hypocrites they are and I have their bullying, overdramatized, judgemental, boring and abusive private mail as evidence.

  Well, I don't know about that thank god. But seems like more of a fair match to me than bulling on either side. Let the games continue! In my experience people are mostly multidimensional, even though we want to put ourselves and others in a box......most people won't stay there.

  .....Time is the currency of life. The moment I stopped expecting answers regarding the existence of God, and the afterlife, whether Christ really existed or not, was the moment that I truly felt that I was living.

  For the last 10 months, since I left my husband, my stuff, and my JW life, I have been living moment to moment, sometimes day to day. I have survived because I do find appreciation in the life that is happening around me. My grandkids are a constant source. I love the simple things, so I am easily entertained.

  However, inside of me, all I can see is the fray from the battle. I think somehow this question has to be answered before I can truly engage in the moment. I land mostly in the resolve that the 'question can't be answered'. Maybe, moving forward would be the 'question doesn't need to be answered'.

  Time is the currency of life...I can embrace that. Now that is helpful. Thank you.

  LOL, yes, HS good point and though I am not sure where you get your stats, most likely true. I would have guessed higher.

  if the comments on this Board made about you, postive or not, disturb one emotionally, then we should seek other more cuddlier Boards to interchange on.

  Absolutely. Just my observation but I'm not thinking you are scaring anyone off. Responding to condesncending accusations by showing a little back bone does not make one a hypocrite, nor does it indicate that they can't handle the pressure. I would like to get rid of the word "nice" if we are going to discuss this further. Nice is a benign word, and doesn't work any better to explain the issues here than the word mean. Stupid and intelligent can go away too.

  What we are talking about is compassionate, empathetic, caring posters ending up on the same thread with the more straightforward, balls to the wall thinkers (I'm having a harder time with adjectives to describe the slice and dice club, you can help me with this if you wish). Divisions seem normal to me. We are who we are and like it or not we do fit in categories. Some feed off controversy, some need less of it, some can't handle it at all. That does not mean that the later does not belong on this board. What it does mean is that those that can't handle the heat should stay out of the kitchen. There are plenty of other rooms in the house.

  BTW, just because you don't hesitate to slice some one to bits doesn't mean that person (IF upset with you) doesn't have just as much right to be where you are. Public Discussion Board, right? Being upset after being chopped to bits doesn't mean that person doesn't have the right to do a cyber punch to the nose in response. The fact that you (for one) are not fazed by it is your issue not theirs. I'm not seeing any quilting candidates in this last event.

  To address one more thing, the word hypocrite. As XJW's that word seems a bit over the top. Like my sister telling me I'm just like my mother. I'm not thinking the master of meanness cares about that, just a note from me.

  There is nothing wrong with searching for this answer, remember that Jehovah is who He is and that will NEVER change.

  While I appreciate the time you took for this, you need to know my issue is with my faith in God.

  I am completely done, and wonderfully over serving the WTBTS. I am sticking to that, the only true belief I have right now.

  HS might just be sorry he started this "club" thing....I can see all KINDS of humor possibilities. I could start the "stuck in red club" for instance for those of us who are more technically challenged.

  Any other ideas? I'm liking the red.

  Bizzy Bee, correct me if I am wrong. I'm sure you will. I don't know all the you said, she said crap that has gone down here over this subject that is now getting the hell beat out of it. Seems to me we are discussing road kill at this point....

  .....and my point is.....this thread was a response to HS categorizing posters into groups. Cuddly Club? Challenging didn't come up with that, she just was venting about how it feels to be categorized.

  So what is so wrong with that? I just don't get what your issue is.

  I'm thinking about my friend Captain Complex, and about how he is always getting me to think. I have been wanting to share some of my memories of my dad on this board. Everytime I do, I can't get through it. So, for you, I will give you a bit at a time. Today on this "anniversary" thread.

  The words that best describe my dad are true Southern Gentelman. He was kind and generous to a fault. He married the meanest woman in the world, so he was always my soft place to land. My affection, my heart.

  He was born into poverty in small town North Carolina. To listen to his childhood menories you would never know he lacked for anything. His parents were both alcoholics, and he spent most of his younger years with his Aunt Claudia (he called AC), and his Grandmother (my mammy, she dipped snuff....). He was an only child, but he had cousins that were like brothers to him. He also had a close buddy named Boe, he stayed in touch with him until the day he died. He always had a story to tell. A few years ago he wrote a wonderful short story about his childhood, growing up on the Pamlico River, all the shenanigans he and his brothers' would get into.

  He had a million pictures he kept, I will now cherish them for him. Thought I would share some as I tell my tale...

  dear friends,.

  much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

  however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
