yesterday i went home to see my best friend from my childhood.
we were always together, and when we got older he was the best man at my wedding, and i was his.
the last 6 years has been a struggle to get my family out of this evil cult. It has been a marathon, and I have won Olympic gold!
Sorry for all that you have lost. To have your family out.....priceless. I love it. So many here are still in the middle of the struggle.

I tried to think up an answer to every question. It helped keep me awake, and I amused myself with my own wit.
I also picked my fingers to bloody stumps. They are finally recovering.

i just had a conversation with my sibling regarding free will.
he's going on and on about how jehoover gave us free will and that gives us the choice to accept him or not.
now, i will confess that i never paid attention at the meetings, didn't give a hoot about doctrine, the bible or whatever they were spewing from the platform so maybe that's why i don't get this.
For some reason, the 'free will' concept was one of the few things I did understand. Why?
Maybe because I was converted. I never felt God was keeping me there, I always understood it was men and my own stupidity.
However, when I finally left, I came a place where God's will began to bother me. Besides the fact that it is somewhat confusing, it seemed just wrong.
I'm still working that one out.

we all know that witnesses go nuts when you point out their apparent lack of attention from god due to all their constant changes in teachings...from being wrong all the time.
somehow, because the slave (gods channel) is imperfect and makes mistakes using gods instructions we should still follow them.
they will say we are not "inspired" by holy spirit like the bible writers...just guided and directed by god, but still imperfect so make mistakes....ok........ you are lost, and need directions to your destination.

Following the map for me was like living in a fantasy world. Looking back, I wish sometime it had been that easy. Go to meetings, knock on doors, live happily forever on paradise earth. Follow instructions, and if anything goes wrong you always have satan to blame for it. Just wrap me in a box and put a ribbon on it.
Not knowing the answers is both exciting and frightening. But at least my heart is beating and I know what it feels like to breath fresh air.

First define where your destination ends, and then set off on your journey.

i have heard it on this forum that victims are sometimes considered an offender.
i did believe it, just never wanted to hear my father say or agree with it.

just to clarify - i am part of nothing in the religious sense- my kids and husband are very catholic but i am not.. i was invited and trying to get the address after making considerable efforts to attend due to plain old busy life.. it seems "new light" says i, a fader of over 20 years is not welcome to a gathering where jws are present.
but - not just jws - there would be many other religious denominations present in the form of aunts, grandmothers, parents etc.
Stories and events like this are mind boggling to say the least. Pety, stupid, immature, assinine are just a few words that come to mind.

i'm back from a little jwd break and i'm happy to see that things are not as volatile as when i left.
however, some things never change.
and one thing that seems to be a constant around here is the mentality of some very intelligent and knowledgeble ones (in their own minds at least) that if you are "nice" you are some how emotionally needy and/or not too bright.. i don't think the "happy people" on the board have anything against people with high iq's.
