One elders response, (I was leaked this later by an elder friend), was "why is HE so depressed? Did he max his credit card out?" Other than tossing me a few articles I was on my own.
Such a typical elder response.
Right before I "left" the congregation, I was going through a bout of depression. The first question to come out of every elder's mouth that I talked to was......"did you do anything of a judicial nature that you need to tell us about?"

I think that, as has been mentioned already, that the illusion of this being the happiest organization on earth is lost over the fact that so many are depressed. Thus, the depressed become viewed as a burden that is going against the very goal of the organization, which is to give off the appearance of being the world's happiest people.

Well i'm not sure if the internet is considered "new" technology at this point but it seemed that if any congregation members knew of others using the internet, there was the automatic assumption that you use it for every "immoral" reason possible. So if you use internet, you might not have been an "exemplary Christian".

ok so its only october so maybe this is a bit early.
but for me this is my 2nd year out of the org and i am looking forward to celebrating it again this year just like last year.. isn't it geat that we can join in with this celebration with the rest of the participating world!.
and no guilt feelings of being involved in a pagan celebration, over-indulging a bit, getting drunk a bit and enjoying yourself.. will this year's christmas be a first one for some people here since they have left the org?.
Even though I won't be doing much celebrating, it will be the first one where Christmas isn't something that is "demonized" to me based on faulty teachings and reasonings.

Ah yes. The prestige of microphone carrying is not to be underestimated. Sounds ridiculous now, but we all know it's true.
So true lol. I couldn't wait to have part in any "privelege" that was bestowed upon me. I think right after I was appointed a MS is when I started to see most of these things as burdens.
