How many of you were baptised at a young age?
by lepermessiah inone thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

worst privelege ever?
by rockmehardplace incollecting money after every meeting.
i could never get someone to help, and i was always last to leave.
when i did finally have one person who would help, if i used them too often i got questions about why the two of us were always taking the contributions.

Did people DONATE for the literature when you went out in service?
by BonaFide ini think i got a donation maybe once or twice here in the states.
most of the friends don't ask for a donation.
in south america, more people donated, but i think it's because it was phrased differently, we used to say, "you can give whatever you want for this magazine.

In the 3 years of active door-to-door I did only two people gave a donation, and I didn't ask for it.

Crazy JW chaperon Stories
by superman inthe jw's must not trust their members or at least don't have too much faith in them when it comes to being alone around member of the opposite sex.
i can remember one time in particular from when i was a teenager that still makes me laugh today.. when i was younger i used to go out in service on a regular basis during the week when i had summer break.
one time when i met for service there were only two other people that showed up.

My then-fiancee and I were yanked into backroom once because an elder spotted me us alone in a car together. I actually was taking her to see her doctor because she was sick and I was off work that day and was the only person available that could take her(she had no driver's license yet at that time).
I asked the elder..."so what was I supposed to do, just sit and do nothing while she's sick??" He said..."you just have to do what Jehovah wants you to do."

I need a job
by mrsjones5 inok, i'm always online looking for jobs in the fashion industry, though there weren't much in that catagory in indiana.
the pickings are slightly better here in california but most of the jobs are in southland.
so i'm looking at this one fashion job site that's pretty good and i find that a community college in stockton is hiring fashion instructors.

Gaming Addiction
by desib77 injust curious, has anyone ever dealt with a gaming addiction or had someone they love that is addicted to online gaming?
(world of warcraft in particular) how did you handle it?.

While I do enjoy playing video games, i've never really had an addiction to them. Playing Xbox 360 sure helps pass some extra time though.

Think for myself,
Work on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as Sunday mornings if I choose,
Go out and make friends that actually do care about me,
Date whomever I want,
Not be worried about anything I do "stumbling" others,
.......it's countless.

A POLL! How long did your "re-evaluation" take?
by Gayle infrom beginning to end, how long did it take you, when you first started your personal questioning and re-evaluating the watchtower organization and concluding that the wts was definitely not true?
my sister is asking this.
some of us (who left a couple decades ago - pre-internet) are saying it took about 10 years on average.
