JW's negative outlook on humanity
by kwintestal inalways thinking that the world around you, the people you see and deal with day-to-day, and the forces controling everything are wicked and evil in the most horrible ways is pretty much standard thinking for most active jw's.
none would think more so then those who have had this indoctrinated into them from infancy.
how do you think this effects people trying to leave?

My opinion is that it may very well help ones leave the organization if this concept wasn't heavily ingrained in their minds.
That's definitely what keeps so many in....the thought that they are part of something so grand, that it's the only place of safety in the world.
It most definitely helps one exit when they do realize that "the world" isn't the rotting cesspool that the WTS teaches them it is. This very thing is what helped me walk away from it, when a few things occured that showed me how loving people in the "world" can be, and how hateful some JWs can be.

C.O. in the basement
by DaCheech ini just saw the mail.
when i saw a bill from the satellite tv company i could not refrain from opening it.. seems like the congregation is flipping the $88 a month for the c.o.
to watch tv.. the billing was not personalized to the co, but to the congregation.

How many active J.W are there on this site
Many. I'm still a JW in good standing, though I believe I was placed on the inactive list starting this month.
How many pioneers, elders, and M.S on this site
Many of those as well. I was an MS and Pioneer up until 2 months ago
How many under the age of 25 are there on this site
Alot I suppose. I'm 23
Why did you search for this site in the first
I came accross this site a couple years ago. I always had doubts and alot of things being said here about my doubts were making alot of sense and there were many others that felt the same way.

Three Sisters Came by the house yesterday
by purplesofa ini saw a car pull up in the driveway.
i was at my computer trying to order some tickets from ticketmaster, having a hard time with some details.. then i saw one sister, two then three get out of the car......up to my door.. i had a towel on my head (just got done coloring my hair) new clothes pulled out in the living room for my grand daughter, she was laid out of the sofa watching hannah montana.........i looked like hell.
they, of course, all dressed up.. it was around two, and i figure they had been out in service and was finishing up their time.

Purps,
I wouldn't be too alarmed at the possiblity of the elders interrogating you after the sisters' visit. You have kept a very low profile in the congregation, and if I know this BOE well enough like I think I do, they would hardly make an attempt to contact you. Perhaps they may continue their visits that they must make so they can say they've attempted to "shepherd all of the flock", but they can easily be avoided, especially with your circumstances.

When did you STOP considering yourself a JW ? ? ? ?
by JH inany particular event sparked this change of heart ?.
-
R.F.
I have no clue. Sometime within the last few months is when I realized that even though i'm still considered a JW by others, that I no longer considered myself one. I have no place in that organization anymore.

What about your JW past are you thankful for?
by nvrgnbk inin the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.
not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.
to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..

Public speaking, and just speaking to others casually with confidence. I was unusually shy prior to my active JW years.

1. It's a dry city, except for a few resteraunts and clubs.
2. The city is dead by 9pm....but then again, there's not much happening in it to begin with.
3. Not that many options to choose from
4. Everyone knows everyone's business
