I think that all the meetings should be canceled in the 6 months before the memorial to give enough time to contemplate the meaning of the important occasion.

No meetings memorial week
by Saltheart Foamfollower inthe august monthly announcements letter, among other things, says that if a memorial is midweek, there is to be no midweek meeting and if at a weekend, then no weekend meeting.
previously it was only no other meeting on the same day.
is this because so many congregations now share halls that scheduling it has become almost impossible?.

It is now 2003.... Where is Armageddon?
by Nosferatu ini find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.

Oh yeah..... My kind of topic
I'm no Tommy Emmanuel but for me.... NO guitar .... NO life
Had a few guitars over the years but just recently got an Epiphone AJ-220SCE/N
It's not one of the top of the range models but it really sounds good
Even with light gauge strings on it, it plays nicely and has good volume and great tone
At least for me. I have never played any really expensive guitars so I can't compare but
this does the job for me.
Now gotta play.........

No Reason For JWs To Go To The MIdweek Meeting (CLAM)
by JW_Rogue ineverything that is done at the midweek meeting can now be done at home.
the videos are online, the first talk is scripted, the bible highlights are scripted.
you could get the same experience by just reading and watching the material from your tablet.

I just realized how closely the lyrics of this song represent my current feeling about the meetings. I never would have thought when I was young and first listened to this song how much it would apply to me now especially when attending the meetings
Comfortably Numb Pink Floyd
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
Okay
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more, ah
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cPxKq-gMDo
After finding out the TTaTT I went through the feelings that most on this forum can sympathise with but finally coming to terms with it in my own way to some degree.
It seems there is no way out for me after being a witness for more than 50 years. It's not possible right now for me to leave physically even though I want to. But I have left mentally and now just resigned to being comfortably numb at the meetings
Or maybe that should read uncomfortably numb.
(Maybe this could be the missing new song 151)

Reasons for some brothers not to use technology for the cult ?
by SlappySlap inand what if a brother or sister refuses to use internet only because he got to struggle with pornography and decides to cut off his right hand (technology) and throw it away because it causes him to sin ?.
would he be considered unspiritual for living according to what he thinks to be right or must he take the risk to be tempted or even to sin just to be in line with the ‘’organisation’ ?.

They could also refer to this WT article as a good reason not to use the Internet
As we know, referring to a WT article is like referring to the oracle.
So it would be a mark of spirituality to do so
WT 06 3/1 p. 24 par. 9 “Keep Your Senses Completely”
Quote: On the Internet, it can be difficult to distinguish fact from fiction
Can't argue with that. Or is it out of context. Hmmm....
I'll just check out JW.ORG
No fiction on that site.
Caleb will put me right I'm sure.

What is often overlooked about the statistics in Japan is how it relates to the culture. Doing things together and being part of a group is ingrained in the psyche of Japanese people especially the women. If you were in a congregation and were not a pioneer you were basically snubbed. So the number of pioneers in the 70's to the late 90's reflected the need to be accepted in the group rather than motivated by any love for Jehovah. To some degree that is still true but things are changing especially with the modern generation brought up on a diet of social networking and the Internet. The incidences of mental health problems related to such "groupthink" is being understood more and an undercurrent of rebellion against the pressure to conform is steadily eroding the number of pioneers in the congregations all over Japan. The young people who were encouraged (forced) to get baptized and then pioneer often straight from school missing out on a higher education as the "thing to do" are now realizing that there is an alternative and that it is OK to break out of the mold. It is not easy and there still is a lot of pressure to be part of the group but the effect of the new thinking is clearly being seen in the falling number of pioneers and those who are now see it is OK to drop out of the pioneer ranks.Probably there will be an even more noticeable drop in the future as the realization that the promise of "Armageddon is round the corner" has not come true and that many of the "old guard" who gave up everything for the pioneer service, including having children, are starting to understand that the hope of never dying is also proving to be an unfounded promise. Quite a few are facing old age with no pension and no children to help support them. The younger ones don't want to be in the same boat.Things are changing in Japan and the GB is definitely worried about it.
