Thanks everyone for the replies. Nice to know that my situation is understood and I appreciate the encouraging comments. Keep them coming! Thanks also for the advice about the monitor Rocketman123. I'll look into it more. My birthday is on the 16 of this month so I need to decide soon which monitor would be the best choice. And no worries Long Haired Girl. The last thing I want to do is bring someone into this religion. I've avoided having RV's or any BS's despite pressure from my wife to "expand" my service when I retired a few years ago. The letter writing "service" that we do know is great for me. No pressure to get out for DtoD service. It takes me about a month to compile one letter as I am giving it "great thought" and that seems to please everyone. Needless to say that letter needs constant review so it has never been sent to anyone. No travel to the KH either. Suits me. Keep on zooming!

Zoom meetings
by molybdenum inbeing pimo i attend the meetings regularly over zoom.
( i have to as my wife is a dyed -in - the wool, and stick-in-the mud pioneer witness.
i have no possibility of leaving as it would create havoc in my life and at 68 years of age i just don't want the hassle of having to cope with the ramifications of disassociating myself.

I know, I am a spineless coward and should have the courage of my convictions, but I can live with it)
In my congregation the members are all pretty good at being on zoom and the result is that the meetings are pretty predictable and boring.
I am constantly hoping for some break in the monotony by someone doing something unexpected but nothing much really happens to lighten the mood.
The only thing that was mildly interesting recently was that a slightly elderly member had the password as his name by mistake. He was confused as to why he was being referred to by that. However, he was soon told and it was corrected, and that ended any interest I had in the meeting.
How about where you are? Have you witnessed any interesting "zoom failures" while attending a meeting or any comment about the zoom meetings that you might have.
Just need a bit of a laugh.
I will be 69 next month ( Feb) and having been a witness most of my life I of course have had to celebrate my birthday privately since becoming PIMO ( about 10 years ago). I'm thinking of splashing out on a 30 inch monitor to replace my 10 year old 23 inch as a gift to myself. Eyesight is getting worse so a bigger screen might be a good idea.
Any advice on that?
Sorry about two subjects in one. Hope I posted in the right place too. Please put me right if I have made any errors on posting this. Thanks -

"can anyone remember the big pink paradise book ?Stan livedeath asked
Unfortunately "Yes" I was forced to study it when I was a kid. Then came the "Babylon Book" I remember having to plough my way through all that information without understanding any of it at the Book Study. I thought that the "grown -up's" understood it but later I found out that basically no one had a clue what was going on. What a waste of time.

A quote from here:
https://sermons.faithlife.com/sermons/13192-jonah-the-faithful-servant
The Book of Jonah is small in size (a mere forty-eight verses) but great in its impact and extremely significant in light of its controversial interpretive history. The character, Jonah, has intrigued believers for many centuries. Unfortunately, he has become caricatured by many who miss the positive results of an objective examination of his life. The Book of Jonah is a case study of “missed blessings” because so many readers focus upon its supposed difficulties rather than upon its rich teachings. J. H. Kennedy laments this reality. He states that “to some people Jonah is only a hocus-pocus term which conjures up thoughts about bad luck and personal misfortune. . . . To many people, Jonah suggests an ancient literary myth, a fantastic tale about a man’s being swallowed by a whale and surviving the ordeal. The story is marked by the usual fictional extravagance of folk tales and especially by biblical supernaturalism.”
This author hopes that all readers might see the inherent spiritual truths of Jonah, sense its deep message for humankind, and recognize its important portrayal of the character of God and his purpose. There are important lessons in this small book. One needs to realize that the “fish” is a relatively minor part of the story, mentioned in only three verses. R. T. Kendall is on target in stating, “The Book of Jonah is one of the most relevant books for the present time.” Its message is abidingly relevant for the modern-day reader. One for Jonah!

Well I guess that is one point of view. I probably would agree if it was not for Jesus himself referring to the account.
Matthew 12:40 New International Version (NIV)
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So this must give some credence to the story. I am not sure if I agree on the way the movie depicted Jonah but I was entertained by it. There were some kind of "comedy" relief parts to it.
So whether we are critiquing the movie per se or whether we are discussing /discounting the account of Jonah that is in the Bible record as pure fiction are two different things.

Why are they announcing 2019 conventions so early?
by Richard_I ini was just told there will be international conventions in canada in 2019. .
so i looked at jw.org and i see that there's a whole bunch of conventions now listed on the site for 2019.. isn't this odd?
normally we were told the location of conventions during the first week of january.. did they realize there was less in attendance in the 2018 conventions, and want to give ppl more time to make travel arrangements??

No meetings memorial week
by Saltheart Foamfollower inthe august monthly announcements letter, among other things, says that if a memorial is midweek, there is to be no midweek meeting and if at a weekend, then no weekend meeting.
previously it was only no other meeting on the same day.
is this because so many congregations now share halls that scheduling it has become almost impossible?.

I think that all the meetings should be canceled in the 6 months before the memorial to give enough time to contemplate the meaning of the important occasion.

It is now 2003.... Where is Armageddon?
by Nosferatu ini find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.
