Well it would have to have happened very recently because my dad is on the building committee and recently recieved a letter about a new building project that he has to help on.

by Ivor Hope ini have heard today from 2 different sources that the wts has announced a global stop on all building work.
kingdom halls already being built are having the work on them stopped.. has anybody else heard this?
if it is true, what could be the reason.

Are you bitter?
by rolling rock inis it just me, or is "everyone" on this board bitter?.
i do know alot of happy jws and, i could not see them being anything else but jws.... .
this is just my take on what i have been reading on the boards sence i joined up...

very saddened to hear about your painful past life but i am glad you are past it and doing ok. you're right it will never fully go away but if you can learn to live happy and keep it in the background then thats the best you can hope for. thats my longterm goal.

with all due respect, his posts sure dont sound like some one who cares or is saddened by seeing us in pain.
i'm glad you qualified your post by saying that you have never been a jw because trust me no matter how much you hang around x jw's and no matter how much research you do on the subject you will never know what its like unless you live it. and i'm not talking living it for a few years. spend your entire life in a fucking cult and see if you are singing the same "whats wrong, just be happy" tune. i'm not mad at you but just stating a fact. i may not know his background or anything about him but either he is extremely uninformed about the things we have been through or he is extremely insensitive and cruel.
are we bitter?! i mean what the hell kind of question is that? just asking such a thing is a sign of arrogance and ignorance.

and you should learn to think before you ask a thoughtless question like you did. you dont know enough about anyone to say whether they should be bitter or not.

that question sounds like its coming from someone who hasnt had their lives stolen by this sick org. of course were bitter, you would be too. dont make it sound like we dont have any reason for the way we feel. how dare you judge someone when you havent walked in their shoes. sounds just like something i would hear from a jw.
of course we have to move on and we will. some already have. some are just getting started. for some it takes longer. dont question whether someones feelings are valid or not.

it is from this summer and i was just hanging out at the mall of america with my friend, so i have my glasses on and i could look better, but anywho...it gives you an idea what i look like.

love the name btw. you are right i know that is all in the societys own literature. i dont really believe what i said up there..just confused and not thinking straight sometimes. i dont believe that the devil is running this whole ex jw society in an effort to turn people away from jehovah. its stupid really but people do believe that.
i agree, the org has some good points in that it does teach people to be moral and good upstanding citizens. but the bad far outweighs the good.

heres another i can think of. the societys stand on 'alternative service' was developed during the second world war and it was that if you performed alternative service you were compromising your faith and were treated the same as if you had disassociated yourself or were disfellowshiped. but the May 1 1996 watchtower changed the policy and said that it is up to each persons conscience now. during those 50 some years that the 'old light' was in effect, thousands of witnesses spent time in prisons because they refused to perform alternative service and those that did were shunned by friends and family. but now its ok.
also on the blood issue. the policy for years that even hemophiliacs were not allowed to take blood fractions more than once. if they took it once it was ok because it was considered 'treatment' but more than once was considered 'feeding' or eating blood which they were not allowed to do. the jun 15, 1978 watchtower slipped in the change of policy. (btw, the policy was changed in 1975 but wasnt printed until 1978 ..wonder if anyone bled to death during that time.)
