Thanks IW! Once one of my co-workers told our boss "you can't fight city hall," and my boss said "Oh yes you can!" So I decided that would be my philsophy.

Wendy, here is the link. Richard Dawkins is one of the people who also knows about this study of memes and mnemotics. Mr. Brodie mentions him on this site. I hope you will check it out.
I hope as you get to know me better (if you want to) you will realize that I'm not a game player.
if you are a loyal, zealous witness, please listen to me.. i'm going to tell you straight from my heart, right out of.
my hard-won personal experience, how to avoid unhappiness.. here it is:.
don't bet on games you can't win.. let me illustrate.
Metraton,
Enjoyed your post. I am not the type of person who can't spin their wheels. When I find myself looking like I'm about to, I slow down, and so does my body. I seems to be a natural mechanism in me. LOL
I haven't tried to please anyone in my cong. by jumping thru hoops or trying to see how fast I can dance. Apart from Jehovah, my family's happiness are more important.
i am still one of jehovah's witnesses and i still attend meetings at the kingdom hall though i am quite disgruntled over many of the society's teachings and the practices that go on in the congregation.
i have read everything about jw's both pro and con, (i have one of the largest collections of material related to jw's in europe) and i have contributed scholarly articles to the society on many occasions.
i could talk about many things but i'll just talk about what i observed last night.
Dear Pathofthorns,
I agree with you.
i was just wondering about most of you guys.
since you aren't jws anymore, what are your beliefs now?
have you rejected the bible as a whole?
Hi all,
I was just wondering about most of you guys. Since you aren't JWs anymore, what are your beliefs now? Have you rejected the Bible as a whole? or just the Greek Scriptures? Are some of you still Christians, but with a different faith, or have you gone on to non-Christian faiths, or become agnostic or atheist? These question are just so I can see better where you are coming from.
Thanks!
hullo everybody i'm new here, even though i've been lurking now for several months.. i have to say how afraid i am to post, afraid and ashamed but i feel if i dont tell my story, i honestly dont know what may happen to me or my children if they lose me, right now i feel like i've got nowhere left to turn and have my doubts about this place as well.. i know my story will shock you but i cant keep it in any longer.
i am recently disfellowshipped for immorality, the subject of a kingdom hall witch -hunt and subsequent congregational humiliation, .
during the process of the judicial committee meetings and proceedings no consideration was given to my real human circumstances nor to the spirit of survival nor human nature nor that of a mother seeking to protect her children from lack of basic fundamentals such as food, shelter and clothing.
I find myself agreeing with LovesDubs, Mommy and Tina here, Azz.
I don't think prostitution the only way you could support yourself and your kids. If you are beautiful as you state, you could do some not so questionable work as a nude or exotic dancer. I hear they make lots of money--maybe even more that a prostitute.
But just in case I am wrong about you, don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't worthy to pray to Jehovah just because you are df'd. That is wrong and judgemental.

Well Ianao, actually this conversation started last week with Tina and me. It all started with I reply made about volunteerism and it has come to suppression of women among JWs.
And either Prisca or Tina asked me what planet my cong was on and so I told them the Planet of Florida.
If you want to think the Tower has done something to my brain fine. I would like to suggest to you, if you haven't done so already, to read a book called Virus of the Mind by Richard Brodie. Very interesting ideas he puts forth.

Wendy>>Ok If you indeed wanted to be an elder, would they allow this? Don't make another offhanded remark about what works for you...think about this....would they let you? We both know the answer to this.
FP>>No they wouldn't and would give the scriptural reasons for stating why. And yes it would be from the apostle Paul. Are you suggesting that everyone should disregard what Paul stated? Not that I don't have issues with him, but this is not one that I have. Yet I don't see brothers in my cong running around reading scriptures to sisters about being subordinate.
Now if it's power you all are talking about, within the congregations, and you think women should have some, more "power to you." I am just not interested. Power is seductive and I want no part of it.
FP>>Wendy, really should power be the thing that drives a church or org in the first place? Maybe the word should be authority. Again, if they go by scripture, by Paul, women don't have the authority to be elders or ministerial servants. Yet he does charge them to counsel younger sisters and wives so they don't go gadding about interfering in other people's affairs nor gossipping. But because this is the arrangement that is set up in the org, and other churches as well, does that mean I must leave it in search of worshippers who do allow women to be pastors, etc? I don't think so.
Wendy>>You see Fp there is a BIG, huge, humongous difference in having a choice, and having a limited choice. Can you not see this?
FP>>Yes I understand what you are saying. But I also don't have a desire to have authority like that. Some women do and I shouldn't be judged because I don't want to OR because I don't feel suppression, repression or oppression from the brothers in my cong. They do not so to speak "Lord" it over others; sisters included. It would be terribly difficult for the society, or other churches, to admit that Paul's words in this area are not for people today, and reject them but yet accept other things he said as inspired.
