Gopher - that was a good one. "...move to Alabama where that sort of thing is tolerated." LOL

To the Body of Elders, Dear Brothers - a letter to send to individual JW's
by eclipse inprovided by jwd member: wingman original thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/144020/6.ashx.
to the body of elders, dear brothers, it is with matters of great concern that we write you.
the future of the work depends upon our young people.

I think this is a good idea. No, it won't get through to most but maybe just one person will read it and realize he is not alone in his doubts. We evil apostates don't have to make anything up, reporting of the facts is good enough.
The U.N./NGO scandal shocked me into reality. I had never heard a word about it.
I will probably be writing a disassociation letter soon. I will use some of this word for word.

My meeting with the elders.. I TOTALLY WIMPED OUT
by AWAKE&WATCHING ini agreed to speak to 2 elders from the congregation that i was in from when i started my bible study in 1979 to when i disassociated myself in 1990. i was in the same congregation when i got re-instated in 2001 until i got married and moved to another congregation (30 miles away) a year later.
when i left my husband in aug. of this year i had already quit going to meetings for about 4 months.
i moved back to the same town i lived in before, of course never going to the hall.. i talked to them because i wanted closure for myself and my best friend and also my husband, both of them thought if i would just have the meeting with the elders that i would be re-adjusted.

Thank you ONE and ALL for your encouraging words and support.
Funny, I have only met one of you face to face (noni) and I honestly feel closer to you all then I could ever feel with people I've known close to 30 years. Someone mentioned on another thread, being in a war zone, involved in different battles and coming away with different injuries, yet we have that war in common.
I believe that our scars bond us in a way that no one else could understand.
I am so grateful to have you all and this board. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Fave Songs: FRANK ZAPPA
by JK666 inwe have talked here about music that helped some of us mentally cope with life growing up in the borg.
my absolute favorite was frank zappa and the mothers of invention.
i realize that it will probably be a very short list of people responding to this post, since this music is a little esoteric.

Just another side note, not meant as a high-jack: My mom is in Montana right now (working) for a few months, so we start our conversations on the phone with "raising it up, swish swish...".
It's hilarious to me because she is 74 years old and it always starts a conversation in her office when someone hears her reciting Zappa.

I miss my friend Melinda- she was so much fun. We also loved David Bowie and she got her hair dyed red and spiked.
I'm going to be singing "The Slime" to myself all day now. I't funny because my mom hated it at the time but once in a while, now that I am almost 50, she says "Sing Zappa for me!"
"I am the tool of the government and industry too, for I am destined to rule and regulate you. I'm the best you can get, have you guessed me yet? I'm the slime oozing out of your T.V. set."

My high school friend and I used to lip-sync and act out Zappa songs for our friends.
My favorite was "The Slime" - "I am gross and perverted, I'm obsessed and deranged, I have existed for years though very little has changed..."
I also loved "Montana" (?) "...raising it up,swish swish, and waxing it down, swish swish, in a little white box that I can sell downtown. By myself I wouldn't have no boss, just me and the pygmy pony over by the dental floss bush."

Re: Possible Generation Change........Would Postcards Do Anything?
by ThomasCovenant inspeaking to someone from north of england last week with regard the possible 'new shite' on the generation teaching that may be coming in the new year.. they were thinking of printing off postcards with a simple message such as,.
'they are going to change the 1914 generation again!
'would you believe it, another change in the 1914 generation coming up'.

Sweetface's father has a message for everyone here!
by sweetface2233 inafter being raised as a jw, my dad was df'd for the 2nd time in 1994. that year he lost a wife, 3 children, mother and brother, as well as every friend he had made throughout his 40 years of life.
over the years my sister and i gradually started contacting him, but never had a real father/daughter relationship.
a few years ago, during my divorce, he and i sat down and started discussing his feelings.

Please tell your dad that he said exactly what I needed to hear exactly when I needed to hear it.
Kudos to Pops for showing that even with all that loss there is hope.
