You are not allowed to vote, smoke, drink alchohol, marry, drive, or sign binding contracts till the age of 18-21 (well, driving at 16). But you can commit your life to a God and a religion and be held responsible for that act at the age of 9. Or 8. Or, like me at 10. Makes no sense. :)

Nine year old baptized
by EmptyInside inthis weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

Some Conclusions I Have Reached
by AllTimeJeff ini wonder if everyone here who has kept up with me since i left jw's realize why i have been coming on here.
it certainly has been cool to know that some of my experiences and opinions have helped some.
i hope they know that i have been equally helped by others.. i come here primarily for me.

Jeff: I've always enjoyed you posts and point of view. While, in the eyes of the WT, I'm a "mere woman", and did not have the "privaledges of service" availble to you, I do find parallels between your life as a witness and mine. And, except for the fact that I've crossed over to atheism, I agree fully with your perspective on life.
I especially agree, that individuals hold much power. The way we live, how treat people, who we carry ourselves, the things we chose to do or abstain from...every aspect of our lives can be a testament to wanting to lead and promote a better, more peaceful life. Hopefully others see and follow. :)

I like him too. Read "The Road" and saw "No Country For Old Men". But his views are always soo pesimistic. Of course, he may be right, but I hope he's not. :)

Is It possible for a GB member to ABSTAIN from voting a proposed doctrine into 'law'.
by african GB Member inwould that member be hunted down and removed from the 'board' for fear of apostacy?.
how discreet is their vote?.
is it conducted like 'worldly election' with secret voting booths?.

I think they have to have 2/3 of the votes to get something passed. This implies someone may abstain from voting or vote differently.

I have changed sides
by AK - Jeff inalmost imperceptible over time in some areas.. almost everything i ever believed, i have proven to be false.
almost every bit of my deep seated faith is uprooted by reason.. i am not bitter.
but i am quite reflective these days of how much i have changed.

This is wonderful! You handled the entire situation perfectly. From accepting to help, even though it could blow up in your face, to persuing the leads, to the advice you gave the step dad about focusing on the present. Just beautiful! Well done! :)

Nothing like the fear of impending doom to motivate the little ones. :)
