How can you test whether you have broken free of the mind control
by cantleave init's been less than a year but i think i am nearly there.. i can read through a mag or sit through a meeting and instantly see through the bs.. i can watch the news without thinking is this a part of the composite sign.. i see people for what they are without trying to pigoen hole them.. i'm not worried what the elders think.. however,.
i still show too much interest if i see something about a jw in the media.. i notice kingdom hall if driving through a new place.. i still want to stop and say hello if i see a group of witnesses on the street.. how do you guys and gals measure the progress of your exit from the cult?.

1975 For Deniers
by Farkel in1975 for deniers.
most of today's jws were not members in 1975 or in the 9 years prior to 1975, so they were not eyewitnesses to what really went on during that period.
i was a pioneer in that period, and i was an eyewitness to what went on.. those jws who are still active today and who were around in that period will typically say it was the "brothers" who "ran ahead of jehovah" and "read more into" the 1975 prediction than what was actually stated.

I was baptized in 1968, and shortly thereafter was accepted to university. I was very torn knowing that "the world would end" shortly after I graduated with my bachelor's degree, but I was "selfish and didn't trust in Jah" and went ahead with my schooling. You would of thought I stood in defiance of God himself by going that route...I was constantly reminded how spiritually weak I was and how my short term thinking would bring me bad fruitage in 1975. The janitors who ridiculed me for making that decision are still scrubbing toilets (not that there is anything wrong with that!) and I have lived a comfortable life thanks to a good job and planning for the future.
I also remember the fervor after Sinutko's talk about "Stay Alive till '75"...I am VERY fortunate I didn't completely drink that Kool-Aid, but it did take me another 20 years to completely walk away...
Thanks for the reminder Farkel!

Progressive revelation is good...
How about no smoking, no pre-marital sex, no questioning church authority, no women teaching to men...

Is There Any TV Show That You Wished Was Still On?
by minimus ini know a lot of people were upset when mash ended.
i never was a big fan of the show, probably because it was on a meeting night, but it was a very popular show.. i loved hill street blues, taxi, all in the family, the rifleman, even superman!
i wished those shows never stopped!.
