I finally agree with AIW when it comes to disbelief in the Horus myth...
Can't say that I agree a large number of JW's use the likes of Ehrman or Sanders to expand their understanding...unfortunately, most JW's, do in fact, live in a vacuum.

Hmmm Bane...I didn't know that expressing my opinion automatically made me an apostate...interesting viewpoint. I guess I won't get a simple answer from you since you see each question as a way to trick you into a course of apostasy.

Bane...I didn't ask you to show me a scripture that details each area of conduct...I asked you to show me a scripture that shows why I need to be reinstated to be an approved associate. Isn't repentance and turning away from your wrongdoing enough?...or do you believe that the Bible states you must be reinstated by a body of elders?

I will help you Bane...BOE = Body of Elders.
When I was DF'ed the only way to get reinstated and "un-shunned" was to be accepted back into the congregation by the elders, regardless of whether I had already asked God for forgiveness or turned away from the conduct mentioned in 1 Cor. 5.

Bane,
I'll ask the same question of you that I asked Alice in Wonderland...what if a person is no longer a practicer of what is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5, but has not been reinstated by the BOE...are they still considered bad associates?...if your answer is yes, please supply scriptures to support that position.

Anyone have a Kindle or a Nook?
by Simon ini really don't like the ipad (or apple) but i think an ebook reader would be nice.
nothing made by sony though .... the amazon kindle and barnes & noble nook look to be the best (esp.
with the recent price reductions) but i'd like any insight from anyone who has one.

Hi Simon,
I have a Kindle and love it. The "liquid ink" read out is very easy on the eyes and is especially nice in bright light. The ability to just download a book wirelessly from Amazon is a big plus as well. It didn't take me very long to forget I wasn't reading a traditional book. If I were to buy another one, I would go for the larger screen size, especially if you plan to read newspapers or magazines on it. Hope that helps...
