30/32...missed Maimonides and Nirvana (always thought it was Hinduism belief)...I guess that makes me as smart as an Atheist at the very least!

Hi POY...and welcome.
I can speak to meeting the "right girl". I met my first wife when I was 16 and a newly baptized JW. She was beautiful, sweet, perfect in every way...when I was 16. We got married when I was 19 and stayed married 20+ years...unfortunately, that perfect girl at 16 was not the perfect girl at 40...and I am sure I was not the perfect guy either! The point I make is that there is no way to identify that "right" person when you are in your teens or early 20's. You go through a ton of changes as you mature, and the person you are at 20 is rarely the person you are at 30 or 40. Be patient, and don't fall into the JW trap of being pushed into an early and likely unhappy marriage.

In case anyone is interested in California, the Von's website for online ordering and delivery is:
http://shop.safeway.com/superstore/default.asp?brandid=2&page=corphome
I am sure that there are other states served by Safeway with this service.

My mom orders all of her groceries online and has them delivered...she swears by it. She orders from Vons (a Safeway store).

Why do I feel bad about my children leaving the JW religion?
by lifeisgood in(please, no jws come in here to convert me, i don't want to talk to you).
i left the jw religion after twenty years.
i had one teenager and two small children then.

lifeisgood,
I don't know if leaving the JW's has any correlation to your children's work ethic. I am assuming they are in they mid-20's? My son had a similar attitude, and it seemed to be quite common among his friends. I don't think they were lazy so much as feeling "entitled". I blame myself for this to a degree...but not because I left the JW's, but rather I made it too easy for him. I paid for college, let him live at home after college and tried to give him "all the things" that I didn't have growing up. I have talked to several friends (who were never JW's) and they experienced the same challenges with their kids.
The good news...they seem to wake up at some point. My son is now married, has a good job and seems to be pretty squared away. Don't give up on them...

Elder's Manual Question
by satinka inmy youngest brother is the family jw patriarch, and an elder, maybe even the po in a small northern town.
in an email i asked him if he ever hears from my kids.
i happen to know he lives in the same small town as my son, who might very well be an elder, too...by now.

freydo,
Most elders would consider that the DF'ed person has commited spiritual suicide...it is never the elder's fault, so thus there is no guilt!
