  i have been studying with jw's.

  they seem to have a lot of truth but i have come across a lot of conflicting information about them.

  i want the best for my family and i and want to get closer to god.. any advice?.

  Dear Interested One,

  If you have been studying with Jehovah's Witnesses, you should make sure that you are doing complete research on their beliefs and practices. Unfortunately, this type of research cannot be done by solely consulting the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is important that you research their beliefs, particularly as it pertains to disfellowshipping (shunning), blood policy, absolute obedience to the Organization and its most current teachings and participation in holidays and patriotic events. Once you have done this additional research, ask your study conductor about the answers you find through your independent study. I believe you will be surprised at the answers (or non-answers) you will receive. Ultimately, you have to make a personal decision...just make sure you completely understand what a commitment to Jehovah's Witnesses will mean for you and your family.

  I always found it interesting that before Jesus did anything else (such as teaching), he provided for the physical needs of the people. He healed, fed and comforted people...then he taught.

  I would love to see a compulsory period of service for every young person here in the U.S. They could be given a choice of military or civilian service (like a domestic Peace Corp.), but I would rather see it for a period of one year minimum. Three weeks won't make much of a difference, but a longer period might help young people regain a sense of pride and purpose that appears to be missing at present. Imagine the good that could be accomplished if every young person had to be disciplined and focused on a purpose.

  As to JW's, they would make this out to be a violation of their civil and religious rights...unless that compulsory service could be done at Bethel!

  Interesting that the JW's use the "safety" argument when discussing the benefits of bloodless medicine...safety was never the reason for the JW blood stance, it was rather based on obeying God's law on the sanctity of blood. I guess you can take an unrelated bit of information and "Bend it like Beckham" to make your point!

  isaiah 45:23 i have sworn by myself ... that unto me every knee shall bow.

  philippians 2:10 that at the name of jesus every knee should bow.

  in all my days of regular pioneering, i never made this connection.

  Thanks Blondie...I for one, enjoy your dissection of the WT articles. Frankly, it is the only way I could muddle through them, since the articles themselves bore me to tears!!
