My family would be happy...I doubt the rest would even know or remember me, so I would just be a "weak, fallen one" being given another chance at salvation...I am sure I would be "marked" by restrictions and passive-aggressive actions by others.

My Marriage Ending...Or Other Options
by doinmypart ini don't usually post regarding my personal relationship, but i need some help.. i've been married for 20+ years (married young, both of us raised as witnesses), and my wife and i have kids.
my wife feels like i've disappointed her, made a fool of her, and betrayed her when i stopped being a witness.
other than the witness-thing we seem to have a pretty good marriage, but she can't get over the fact that i'm never going to be a witness again.

DY...don't get too cocky...my wife had the same attitude as you, and she is now my unhappy ex-wife.
Gloating in the face of another's problems is not very becoming or Christian of one claiming to be part of the "happiest people on earth"

Hi Jeff,
Have you considered self-publishing? If you have some type of platform to promote and market the book, it is definitely the best way to go...you keep the lion's share of the profit and you are not controlled by the publisher. A friend of mine published his novel using Amazon's self publishing service, and prints to demand. He received an ISBN number and he was immediately able to sell through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The books don't sell themselves, but it gives you a way to go to market...especially if you can actively promote the novel. If you get some interest on your own, and don't mind giving up control and profit, publishers will often look at these efforts as "low hanging fruit" to pick up the rights.
It certainly sounds like a book I would enjoy reading! Good luck...

In your hall, how many converted to a JW from door to door in the last 10 years?
by just n from bethel inin mine that would be a big fat zero.. there have been a handful of teenage baptisms of jw children.. one that really was a foreign language group transfer.. but in the last ten years - there has not been one single convert from the d2d ministry.. btw - my congregation has had over 10 pioneers (real ones that actually do d2d, including elders) for the last decade.. not one.
10 x 70 hours a month x 120 months = 84,000 hours ... results = 0.. also most of our pioneers are pretty good at the door - some half way decent teachers.
one is sub co and another often is called to teach ... wait for it ... pioneer school!!!.

Zero D2D...any growth was from move-ins, child baptism, etc...of course that was as of 1995 when I left.

LURKERS: Is JW the only true religion? Here is my personal research!
by mentallyfree31 inare jehovah's witnesses the only religion teaching the truth?.
the statement that only jehovah's witnesses are teaching the truth is an extraordinary claim.
such a claim would require extraordinary evidence.

Can you recommend some movies/videos?
by OnTheWayOut inan ex-jw meetup group i attended just watchted worlds apart together and the host wants to do this type of thing more often.. i would love to see religulous, but the group would be divided on such a movie.. i suggested the documentary, jesus camp and september dawn.. do you have any suggestions i can pass along?.

OTWO,
I wasn't advocating pro or anti religion subjects, I was just asking what you were looking for. The films I recommended were definitely not pro religion...they primarily dealt with the various influences, control types and conflicts that JW's could relate to. Worth a look...

So an 8 year old is killed by a machine-gun and it's no ones fault?
by Simon ini think us gun laws are s-t-u-p-i-d ... and the legal system more so.
saw a very good suggestion yesterday though - force people who want to own a gun to require insurance (hey, you have to have it for a vehicle for gods sake).
single-shot hunting rifle?

thetrueone,
You kind of made my point with the statement, "The law authorities here that come into situations where hand guns were used in a crime were found to originate from the States."...despite strict gun laws in Canada, people with ill intent will obtain weapons outside of the law.

Can anyone here SEE the "Run-Away Freight train" about to "Blind-Side" the WTBTS???
by foodalls ini just got off listening to the the tape about the teh bethlelite brothers and the case a member of the anointed has filed against a congregation about an illegal disfellowshiping...and both of these "brothers" have set this organization for a very hard fall!
but!...thats not what i see from what o got from these tapes....but it will be a big contributing factor (i actually feel sorry for those poor "ignorant" elders who will be left to "flap-in-the-wind" over this!!!
)..but its what ii know is comig about all religion that know for a fact!!!

I realize that this is certainly not a humorous subject, but Chris Rock makes a great point here!
