Beer?
Coke or Pepsi ?
Brunettes or Redheads ?
Florida or California?
Beer - but not your cheap shit. Guiness will do.
Coke, Redheads, and Florida to round out my answers. Ahh, always had a thing for a redhead.

hi everyone, here i come, "from roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.".
i have been trying to keep from expressing my volatile opinions and doing pretty well until i came across this rediculous video.

Funny you should say that...because we just had a party for the Circuit Overseer for all the hard work him and is wife has done. We rented a hall and had a big party, and it cost quite a bit. Nothing was special about it, apparently this congregation has been doing it for years, Ive only been in this cong for 10 months. First time Ive ever seen this.
just about every hall i attended as a child would always hold gatherings sunday evening for the CO on his last day there. i've not noticed it so much in recent years though often they will still throw something the weekend of his last visit (before moving on to another circuit)

in two of my old congregations they were known both for throwing "pioneer appreciation parties" where only pretty much pioneer/elder families attended and also having gatherings for only elders/ms's families. who wants the peons at the parties?

i think it's only appropriate to put out a thread to thank simon for the great job he does in moderating this board, watching over discussions to make sure that the purpose of jwd discussion stays focused .
i believe that he and the mods do a great job in helping this board along in it's journey - and enables us to have the freedom of speech- without having fear of reprisal - as long as the guidelines are met.
so, i for one would like to personally thank you simon - for bringing this board into existence, as it has helped many to be able to vent after leaving the jehovah's witnesses cult, and get support, and for others it has helped them have a great place to discuss many important topics that have a heavy play in many of our lives !
i'll add my thanks as well - many of these topics have given me strength when i was low...

just wanted to say how much you here on this board have helped me and a sincere thank you.
i am moving... into a huge, and potentially, wonderful transition in my life.
hard times ahead, but i think the worst is behind me.
Have an awesome journey...

some may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.
a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.
at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.
Excellent reply - also enjoyed your response Jeremy. Too often JW"S streamline the facts or only look at them from a shaded, narrow viewpoint to reinforce to themselves they are correct. Of course this type of reaction/response has been inculcated into them from the top. Scriptures are considered only to reinforce a predetermined line of thought - not to really evaluate the context and meaning. Both of you brought up excellent rebuttal points. Thanks.

i heard this in a car group one day.
a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.
when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.
yeah i personally know a young gal that got re-instated simply so her parents would talk with her. it wasn't more than a few weeks after re-instatement she stopped attending everything again.
funny thing is - the parents now talk to her. she's still leaving her life completely the same as before but simply because she has been assigned a certain label of "in" or "out" it constitutes permission or not for her parents - not who she is as a person - not that there is any reason a parent should not talk to their kids...but you know what i'm saying.

as i sat through a day of the latest assembly - these are some of the notes i was inspired to write:.

very poetic....remember to read your notes whenever the review of the assembly is covered at the KH. ha, ha
LOL! - that's an awesome idea...
"what? they didn't say that? you don't have that in your notes?"

As I sat through a day of the latest Assembly - these are some of the notes I was inspired to write:
(entry #1)
there's a light
at the end of the world they say
convenient lies and shaded truths
to justify not caring
i embrace the pain
as i silently slip away
though it leaves no friend
to call my name
life now pulls
beyond opinion's chains
teaching forgotten love
breaking down judgemental fear
i have slaved too long
chasing merely wind
toiled after dreams
that left me tightly shackled
confusion attempts to hinder
the growth i strive to seek
yet hope rises above all
illuminating the path i take
(entry #2)
solitude gives rise
to an uneasy mind
questions churning while
answers remain hidden
wild thoughts and
unsteady reasoning
combats logic's
measured plans
hope arrives, then flees
seemingly pursued by despair
yet leaves it's traces
on an aching heart
knowledge has broken
tradition's bonds
giving flight to
the power of choice
my triumph and my tragedy
become one
as the future shapes itself
within a shrouded mist
