  I am truly appalled.

  Yes it is appalling - I left jws because a pedophile move into our congregation (in North London too). I was told not to warn anyone. But in the end I was forced to warn a family that he was getting close to. After that I came on here and my eyes were opened.

  Hope you decide to stay and learn like we all are.

  You are joking?!! By the grace of god does this woman not realise she is giving an open invitation for this beast to abuse the children she has already got? The circle begins again because her children will tell her about him and she will probably turn a blind eye because she is obviously desperate to get married and she wants to keep her marriage AT ANY COST.

  This story is getting worse, what on earth is she thinking?

  Would she have known about his past before she married him. I doubt it very much. JWs are very very secretive about pedophiles and their activities.

  The ex bethlite who told me about Michael Porter used to work alongside him in the kitchen department for a short while.

  OMG - an ex-bethelite was telling me this evening that he knew Micheal Porter when he was at bethel himself.

  The sister Michael Porter got married to has children. He had been in Bethel (about 3 years) before getting married. He was an appointed elder.

  BUT GET THIS - THE SISTER HE MARRIED HAS CHILDREN FROM A PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP. Michael Porter got reproved a year after he got married. I am shocked and disgusted.

  a michael porter is listed as a trustee at the mill hill congregation - which is where the bethel is and the bethelites go to.

  listed below are the trustees.

  wow - interesting.

  Bethel actually owns lots of blocks of flats in that area - my suspicion is that he is a long term temporary member of bethel - part of the construction workforce.

  since the society has told the elders that they are basically on their own, why don't we give more thought to suing the elders-----not just the watchtower society?.

  when i was an elder ii was very concerned that i might get sued and be liable in a lawsuit.

  it was one of the reasons i didn't want to be an elder..

  I think that's an excellent idea - but as you said we'd have to give it some thought.

  I would love to see them made responsible for the daft advice they pass on to dubs and for the damage they do to vulnerable people in the name of the WBTS.

  i wonder how others cope with powerlessness?

  as a witness i took great comfort from the thought that when i was at my lowest, that is when i could rely on jehovah completely: as in the saying, "when i am weak - then i am powerful!

  " but i can't take comfort in that any more because that kind of attitude seems like mere wishful thinking to me now.

  All around me I see iniquity, misperceptions, misunderstandings, terrible calamity, and the powerful carrying on regardless. What comfort is there for anyone struck low in this life?

  I agree.

  Have you read any of Heidegger. I find him quite hard to understand. So pls correct my understanding. What I do find comforting from reading some of his take on things is the thought of authenticity and inauthenticity - that we as humans are inclined towards loseing ourselves in inauthenticity, but that we authenticate ourselves by recognising this and accepting it.
