Hiya knb

i'm so glad i happened to stumble across this website cause i really need to express what i've been holding inside for quite some time.
i'm 27 and was born and raised in the "truth".
i'm married and my husband was also raised as a jw, been married for almost 7 years and have two kids who have just started kindergarten and preschool.
Hiya knb

plenty to do in this harvest work?1 cor.. 15:58.. .
did russell expect there still to be harvesting today?.
just wanted to share - I have finally been told to stick to answering from the paragraph and nothing else. I'm happy to oblige from now on as I don't really want to make waves.
One of the elders commented about a book I'd lent to a sister. I didn't know the sis had spoken to this elder about the book - it was Steven Hassan's combatting cult mind control and I reminded them that this happpened 2 years ago. Also, I quickly said, this book does not mention Jehovahs witnesess at all. I was then asked if I considered that JWs are a cult. I replied of course not, but I said that my own response to Watchtowers like this one had been very cultlike and I simply wanted this other sister to be aware of not responding like I used to. This sis has 3 children and has been auxillary pioneering with a view to going regular.
But I have promised that if I want to answer up I will ask my husband to write out answers for me or just read scriptures.
wow.
I remember this story when it first came out. He was so convincing in his denial and now he has confessed. I hope they put him on loads of medication so he becomes almost comatose - imo this is one of the few ways of preventing a degree of reoffence. Also I'm so very glad his family spoke up.
ANother good thing is that when the police say they will keep an eye on an indvidual it also forces the elders to be extra vigilant.

thank you blondie
I happened to be present for this watchtower and managed to get 2 comments in advising caution about over extending oneself and then becoming sick and/or finding oneself in financial ruin. The sister in front of me was nodding away in agreement while I was making my first comment (paragraph 12 - the question does ask for a personal comment) and this encouraged me to say more than I should have. Afterthe meeting 2 sisters came up to me and thanked me and one sister said "I hear you QL". Basically I wove my own and my daughter's experience of pioneering into my answer because I believe that it is watchtower articles like this one that can provoke people to do "lofty things" (line 1 paragraph 7) to their own detriment.
i looked through your posts but couldn't find your life story.
have you written it?.
i would love to read your progression from/through jw to avid scholar :).
Leo thanks for sharing your story. Your posts are always such a pleasure to read.
if so - without divulging any names , approximately how much was donated to the wt society ?
if you are aware of approximate amounts.
as many know the wt society yearly puts out calls in their publications for witnesses to donate trust funds, wills, inheritances, estates, jewelry, cars and whatever else they have to promote the aleged " kingdom interests " in furthering the " good news " around the world.. personally i feel it's all been a scam to continue exercising control over witnesses by influencing them to financially deprive themselves so the wt society can continue it's operations.
this is a true story
A young bethelite found out that a poor JW couple using their credit card regulary bought expensive gifts and regularly paid for expensive meals for a branch committe member and his wife. When this young bethelite told the branch committee member that this couple were in debt all he could say was "I don't know why they buy me and my wife expensive gifts and meals. We don't ask for it". However the fact that this young bethelite spoke to them did not stop the branch committee member and his wife from continuing to accept gifts and meals from this poor couple.
Also just recently - in the last month - a small family who are struggling to make ends meet, (both husband and wife are working and they have 2 small children) - well they paid for a bethel couple to have a weeklong holiday, flights, accommodation everything.
i'm disgusted.
so, i'm formally challenging djeggnog to either substantiate or retract his outrageous claim that:.
1. russell made no predictions about 1914.. 2. specifically, russell never predicted christ's "coming" for 1914.
Hiya JCannon - glad to see I was arguing with someone imaginative and playful. But seriously as witnesses we fall for such reasoning

DJeggnogg, I'm afraid you do speak of your own originality just as Russell did and just as Jehovahs witnesses do and this is the reason he, you and Jehovahs witnesses are getting called on lies. The lying has been proven here on this thread beyond a shadow of a doubt. All I am saying is to own up to the fact that you are speaking of your own origninality and that you are doing this for your own edification and faith.

well i find I can agree with many of the points you are now making DJeggnog - as your faith, and the experience you describe, and where it takes you, sounds okay but only so long as you don't see this as a reason to tell others what they must adhere to.
(note: i apologize to the internet explorer users.
you probably can't see my first epic fail thread because i used firefox to post.
there's still some kind of glitch between a plugin i'm running, firefox posts, and ie.).
As flipper said, you have prolly stirred up a hornet's nest. I don't think they will actually disfellowship you now. Bethel will enable them to reframe themselves to save face but yet at the same time not take any real action against you. You will be free to dance away or dance with them. They can be accomplished dancing partners...
