Over the weekend I was online reading innocent stuff and a visitng jw relative of mine who'd recently read the sept07 km said to me "why don't you just print it out instead of reading online? wouldn't that be easier?"
I was able to emphasize all the many advantages of reading online. She looked at me in wary silence but I think she got the point.
i started a thread for this great guy but without his name in the subject.
this is a dear friend that sees the light.
i was dunked in 1972 --- even did a stint as a regular pioneer --- sold the damn tires and wheels off the mobile home to buy gas to preach!.

a jehovahs witness has destroyed my marriage and reputation , she told my husband horrible things about me and told him,.
he's young he should leave me and find some one else, she told every one that would listen that my childrens farther is a peadophile,.
he's never even been to court, so people in the area shun me and my children, she's judgemental she gossips, she's bullied me and my children for years, she's very demanding and is aways after some thing, i fell out with her because i was very depressed and could not cope with her, she's called me terrible things in the street her family have terrorised me and my family in our home, my children have been victimised and accused of horrible things, when i was really depressed she told me i had done nothing for her thats why she is being horrible to me, not one week went by in twenty years when she did'nt ask for some thing, i said no once to her she wanted 80.00 just after the birth of my daughter, she started a row and did not speak to me for 5 years, i'm really hurt as this woman was really hard to cope with she often upset me and i always made excuses for her, turned the other cheek and she turned on me and my children over some thing that should have been sorted out with kindness, i'm so sad i don't know how to stop hurting..

this feeling that you have seen it all, that there's nothing more in the universe to live for.... i know that it is rubbish, i know it's related to post-exit syndrome.... but how do you deal with it now?.

I want to start a degree - the one that interests me is Politics, Philosophy and Economics - want to catch up with the world and I like studying.

Maybe they just have the formula correct - lots of good friends, lots of "good" music, a bit of "Praise the Lord", and not too much emphasis on doctrine or laws.
I had my JW relatives visiting. As they were on holiday they were very relaxed and didn't go to all the meetings or share in the ministry. We all had such a good time.
So if I were a GB member I would emphasize family/community fun, axe some of the meetings and be more trusting of the r/f in their pursuit of living a calm peaceful life.
i believe in god, but i also realize he may not exist.. if you don't believe in god, i really don't care, i'm just curious.. i don't have this need to start threads like "why you must believe in god", or other such nonsense, but some of you still have this "control" issue that you thought you left in the org.

I think its the way us humans are wired (for want of a better way of putting it). We bring our own ideas to fruition by putting them into practice and/or we bring them to fruition by getting others to put them into practice. So I guess we need to be careful not to tyrannise others or be tyrannised ourselves.

with the public talk being shortened, the "members only" wt, and the bombshell in the sept.km comming up, i was wondering:.
has the society given up hope of bringing in new ones in affluent countries (with the exception of the foreign language field)?
are they thinking that they have to hover around those already "in", and not lose them because, now that they have access to info on the internet, new ones are just not going to "buy" the message?.
I do know that one of the new appointments to the UK branch committee has extensive lawyer training. So it seems to be that they are focusing on damage control.
