Dragon 10, awesome. You will need a fast computer, and it works better the more you use it. I have used it non stop for 2 years, had 9, then 9.5, now 10. HIghly recommended. |

a few months ago there was a thread about a couple of elders at the mill hill bethel being disfellowshipped because they disagreed with some wt doctrine (i can't recall exactly what it was) and that several other betheliteswere under 'investigation'.
i haven't heard anything since, does anyone know anything more about this?.

I too have visited london bethel several times. My son and daughter-in-law were there too for many years. I remember my husband and son having conversations about some of the happenings at bethel (my son and daughterinlaw had already left bethel). They would go silent when I entered the room. Months later I heard about the disfellowshippings. A good friend who'd served at bethel for several years got disfellowshipped too -but he'd already left bethel.
To me all of this represents hope for my family. Congratulations on standing up for your beliefs and forging a pathway for those coming after

I never could work out why Nietzsche was so against Wagner - now I know part of the reason why - it was Wagner's growing nationalism and I also got the sense that he (Wagner) revelled a little too much in his own fame and popularity.
As to hallucinogens, Frankie, I would never touch the stuff. They have too many bad side effects.

The Bible is more often than not used in the above way particularly by religions like Jehovahs Witnesses. But on the other hand I still think the Bible is a rich source of divinity and has the power to outlive human limitations
i have been thinking a great deal about where i stand at this moment in time in terms of a belief in a creator verses a belief in an evolutionary process.
i think the best way to describe it is an exploratory path.
i look at what is around me and i acknowledge it is remarkable.
imo "intelligent designer" is appled retrospectively by both creation and evolution (when evolution is seen as a progression)
If we see both terms as closed paradigms then there isn't much difference between creation and evolution imo. But if we see them as open concepts then they are both rich sources of ideas and meaning. For example creation describes an important part of the process of evolution and evolution (when evolution is seen as a progression) describes another important aspect of the process of evolution from a human perspective. But neither is the be all and end of the process of evolution imo.
edit: the concept of creation can tell us that we are all gifted but progressive evolution can tell us that only some of us are gifted as things stand today.

wow you have received some useful advice here.
My 2cents worth - imo experience and suffering go together. I find it quite rewarding to take a philosophical stance which I know you often do too. Imagine your sons being in a similar boat when they get older - think of what you would say to them. Also see your doctor - maybe a short course of mild antidepressants can break the cycle.

heybaby I didn't see the thread that got pulled so won't comment on that. But I hope you stay and can put it behind you. I too have often been horrified on here. I guess its because in a way we are the "resistance" and any unusual moves newbies make are questioned until everyone is satisfied that you are 100% which of course no one is and in our hearts we all know that
